Got takeout on a Friday evening. Restaurant was completely dead.
Musubi was 90% rice. I feel like I paid for a big rice ball. Seaweed was so chewy; it doesn’t break when you take a bite and everything falls out the back.
Got some pork sliders too. Meat was dry. And toothpicks shoved all the way into the sliders so that you don’t know they are there until you take a big bite.

Food is incredible. Atmosphere is perfect, with a view of the ocean. Service is phenomenal. Anyone in Hilo must experience this local favorite.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We had the BBQ pork and Spam Supreme. The flavor was on point. The rice-to-protein ratio were perfect. And seriously the BEST kimchi I’ve ever had. It’s the chef/owner’s own recipe, and it seriously shows. You have to try this place when in Hilo.

Tried out Musubeast ✨️New Dinner Menu✨️ last night—it was literally amazing!!!
A whole new variety of options, everything’s delicious!
We tried the spicy tofu tempura salad, Asian BBQ kalua sliders, steak, truffle shrimp dyna, the moa moa moa smoked chicken leg quarter, & the dessert trio (which make it to a photo).✨️
The atmosphere was cozy & inviting & the staff were amazing!
If you’re in Hilo go check them out, totally worth it.

Delicious! We had the pork chops and shrimp tacos. The most tender melt in your mouth pork chops we’ve tasted! The menu and food is thoughtfully crafted. The staff was so friendly. Would be regulars if we were local.

If you’re ever visiting on the Hilo side of Big Island, this spot is amazing – highly recommend! I ate here a few times while visiting. All of the musubi is delicious, the seafood pasta was super tasty with a generous ratio of mussels, clams, and shrimp, and the breakfast sandwich was top tier! Will be coming back again next time I visit!

This place is a little hole in the wall but it’s amazing! We had the pork musubi and the spam supreme both were killer. To top it off, the Kimchi was probably the best we’ve ever had! The chef came out to ask how the food was and said the Kimchi is his personal recipe.
It was not busy when we went, but it should be! It’s definitely worth a stop when you’re in Hilo.

Delicious! We ordered two kinds of musubis and they were amazing, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the spam was just right. But what we loved the most was the kindness and warmth of the staff who helped us. They were attentive, friendly, and truly the ones who make this place special. Also, the place is super cute and everything looks very clean. Mahalo Nui Loa!

Wife and I were traveling Friday Feb 27th and looking for breakfast in Hilo around 7:30 am. Musubeast menu on the storefront looked good and store hours said opens at 8:30 so we took a walk and came back around 8:15 and waited outside. By 8:45 the store still said closed but tried the door and was open so went in but didn’t see anyone so I hollered hello a few times. What I assume was the cook came out and said they would be right with us. Waiter came out, seated us and turned on the “open” sign. Wife apologized to the waiter for standing outside while we waited for the restaurant to open and waiter said “not my problem”. Got the feeling we were bothering him. Not sure how to take this so we decided to leave.

I love their musubi. The rice isn’t too dry nor too mushy. I really like their Supreme Spam musubi because of the spicy aioli in it. I just tried their Bacon, Spam, and Egg musubi and that was really good too. It’s definitely on the pricier side for musubi but it’s way better than gas station or L&L musubi (I said what I said). It’s probably the best musubi I’ll ever eat in Hilo, in my completely biased opinion.
