Absolutely loved this place from start to finish. The food is authentically Egyptian, full of flavor, perfectly seasoned, and clearly made with care—not rushed, not “Americanized,” just real comfort food that tastes like home. Every dish we tried was fresh, rich, and deeply satisfying.
What truly sets this restaurant apart, though, is the owners. They are incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they do. You don’t feel like just another customer—you feel like a guest. That warmth and attention to detail shows in everything, from the food to the atmosphere.
The place itself is clean, cozy, and inviting, with a vibe that makes you want to sit, talk, and enjoy your meal instead of rushing out. It’s the kind of spot you’re excited to recommend to friends because you know they’ll love it.
If you’re looking for real Egyptian food, great hospitality, and an overall amazing experience, this place is a gem. I’ll definitely be coming back—again and again.

The mixed grill was good. The mixed dish with macaroni, onions, and lentils was good.

No water offered. All other tables nobody had water. Mandatory gratuity on the tab.

The mint lemonade was not worth the price at all. $8 and if you get that same drink other places it tastes way more natural and made from legit ingredients.

The Mumbar I would not recommend. It tasted burnt like ash and was not worth it.

The lady who took the orders was nice. She did continuously try to upsell on items which was a little annoying.

Pretty sure there was an error on our bill because we walked out of there with a $100+ bill for two people. That’s River Oaks $$$ for a spot off deep Harwin with bars in the windows. Come on now.

We would not go back. It was fine to go once.

I found out about this restaurant from my girlfriend. Today we went with one other and tried a few different things. It was all amazing. We got the mixed grill with salad to try all the meats, the koshary, stuffed zucchini and cabbage, and om ali for dessert. We ordered the Egyptian tea to drink. The staff were very kind and helpful, including answering any questions we had about the food. Would recommend highly to anyone.

Alhelmya ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ is a must-visit if you’re looking for authentic Egyptian food—everything tasted rich, comforting, and true to the culture. The kawar3 was perfectly cooked and full of deep flavor, the mombar was well-seasoned and satisfying, the 3akawi was tender and hearty, and the um ali was warm and creamy, the perfect finish. On top of that, the atmosphere feels genuinely Egyptian—welcoming, lively, and homey. Great food, great vibes, and generous portions; I’ll definitely be back.

Don’t be fooled by this unassuming small (8 table) restaurant in an older strip mall. Hearty dishes reflective of Cairo. Fresh fruit juices (mango and mint lemonade). Om ali (some call bread pudding, but more of a rice consistency) was wonderful. Table next to us were enjoying different types of after dinner coffee as the owner discussed with her dinner guests. Owner and staff were accommodating for those unfamiliar with the food. My wife was ready for a lamb shank, but they had goat that night, which made her even happier.

We had a wonderful experience at this Egyptian restaurant in Houston. The food was absolutely delicious and truly authentic—every dish tasted like real Egyptian home cooking. The meat is halal certified, which we really appreciated.

The service was exceptional: friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. The décor was beautiful and inspired by ancient Egyptian culture, which made the whole experience even more special.

Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for authentic Egyptian food and a great atmosphere!

I came all the way from Mexico just to try this restaurant because I’m Egyptian and there’s no egyptian restaurant there and God it deserved every mile I had to cross in order to reach it. The food was amazing service was the best and Yasmine the owner was such a delight I enjoyed speaking in Arabic to her and she was super friendly. Definitely will try to go again to Houston just to eat there!!

Delicious Egyptian food in a small, homey restaurant. The Koshary and Babaganoush were my favorite dishes, but everything was delicious overall. It does smell like smoke in there, so be aware. I hope to come back and try more dishes!
