A Neat Place to Get Your Sushi or Hibachi Fix in the Northland.

Sushi Omakase gives you three choices on how to dine: Hibachi grill, sushi train, or the dining room. Each look great and would be a fun time and great dining experience. I LOVE sushi—can eat it for dinner every night and am not a big fan of Hibachi grills. I was with a big group of people, sat at the grill, and ordered a bunch of rolls—I know, perverse. The chef put on a good show, typical fanfare with bonfire flames, clanking utensils, and sizzling veggies and meat. But he missed my favorite part! The onion volcano—no biggie. He did spend a lot of time, and a lot of shrimp, popping them into the mouths of hungry patrons. He tossed about six of them, in a row, to one person and he caught the middle three in a row! All-in-all a fun time. As of this review, the restaurant is still new and has some opportunities for small tweaks. Our chef cooked each part of the entrees in sequence: rice, veggies, then meat. This led to the rice cooked well before the meat and by the time folks got the meat, the rice was cold and the veggies lukewarm. I recommend putting all the ingredients on the grill at the same time, multitasking the cooking, and getting the dishes put together at the same time. Everyone was happy and said the dishes were nicely flavored. As far as the sushi, I ordered a medley of cooked and raw salmon, tuna, and veggie rolls. They were all good and prepped nicely—the chefs take their time to make rolls that are packed with seafood and veggies, and hold their structure. One roll in particular, was one I never saw: the Fantasy Roll, rolled up with a cucumber! A really novel idea that created a light, crisp, and refreshing roll that was delicious. The only thing is you need dexterous skills with chopsticks, to which I do not. As the cut rolls are presented on their sides, you go to pick one up with chopsticks and the roll can come undone unless you have a Kung-Fu grip with the sticks. No big deal because it’s worth trying something new and unique.

Overall, Sushi Omakase is a good place to get Japanese food, including sushi. As of this review, they are new and need folks to give them a shot. The servers and manager care about their patrons and work to make sure all your dining needs and expectations are satisfied.

The staff is eager to please and wants to make your visit special! The drinks are on point and the sushi tastes fresh everytime! Can sit for hibachi with family and friends; enjoy a cozy booth and order off the menu or take a sit by the sushi train and enjoy a variety popping out of the kitchen. Below is a picture of the Volcano and firecracker rolls. Both tasty and full of flavor!

As a chef I am very hard to please bu I have to say the did this little place right. Sushi Omakase is a restaurant I would expect to see in the city.
The decor is classy and clean. The appetizer we got was tempura shrimp. The batter was perfectly crisp and the shrimp was moist. We ordered six different types of sushi and I have to say one of the best sushi places I. KC Missouri.
I would highly recommend this little Gem to any foodie with a trained pallet or some o e just starting to eat sushi.
Thank you chef Jerry

We went to check out the sushi conveyor, and it did not disappoint. We were the first ones there, but it filled up quickly. Prices are $1.95, $2.95, $3.95, and $4.50. The quality of the fish and dishes was top notch. Besides fish, they had a variety of other dishes, like gyoza, seaweed salads, and other appetizers. The cocktails were fantastic, too. We had the melon martini and the happy hour cocktail, that had sake and lychee in it. We drove 40 minutes to go there, and we’ll definitely do it again. The owner (I think) came to talk to us and was very nice. I hope the restaurant makes it!

“Where do I begin, to tell the story of how great a love can be?”

For those of you who read my ramblings, you have probably figured it out that I love to eat! So, where do I begin? At the beginning, maybe? About a week ago, there was an email that showed up in my inbox, from Yelp, announcing a Sushi get together. When I saw the address, my eyes got wide and my taste buds started doing the happy dance. It was a 15-minute drive from home. It is a new place that had just opened in the Gladstone Little Saigon Plaza, by the name of Sushi Omakase Bar & Grill. So, I put in a RSVP, and waited. A few days later I got an email saying that I was in! YES!

So, tonight I drove over, and walked into a warm and inviting space. On the left there are three hibachi grills surrounded with seating. In the center there is a rotating sushi table. On one side there are chairs and a bar and on the other side there are booths. On the right side there is the bar as you first enter and along the wall there are some more booths.

I took a seat at the Sushi Table Bar and started looking over the menu. I settled on Pan Seared Pork Gyoxa (dumplings), Sashimi Ahi Spanish Mackerel, and Sake Salmon for appetizers. I chose Hibachi Shrimp for the main course.

First out was the Sashimi and the Pork Dumplings. All I can say is “oh my”. The Sashimi was as fresh as it could be. The Mackerel was light with an almost sweet taste to it and the Salmon rich, smooth and fatty. The Pork Dumplings were soft and savory and came with a delicious dipping sauce. Then came the soup and salad followed by the Hibachi Shrimp. Tender, savory, succulent shrimp served with sautéed vegetables and rice.

This place is well worth trying no matter where you live in the metro!

Well Done Sushi Omakase Bar & Grill!

Well Done Indeed!

This sushi place is amazing. We love sushi, and get it often at other places around the Northland. But this is absolutely going to be a sushi staple in our diet.

Looking for a fun and different experience? Then consider this restaurant!! We have eaten at this restaurant several times now. We always chose the sushi train which is all you can eat at the train bar. All employees and the managers were exceptional, but Mike, the sushi Chef is even a step above that! He always asks if there is something else we would like to have besides what is currently on the bar. The sushi is the freshest around here and I believe it is a much better quality as well. If you do not care for sushi rolls and such, there is a regular menu you can order from. It is fun, enjoyable and the atmosphere is excellent. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!! It is a must for all to try!!

Ok. I must say. This is one of my wife’s and I favorite Sushi restaurants in the North land. The sushi train is really cool. All you can eat. I believe we went on a Sunday afternoon and the food is amazing. Their fried rice is really good. They will even make a dish of your desire if you sit at the sushi train table. The staff is very friendly and courteous. Prices are very reasonable.
