Lalo’s Mexican Restaurant — October 25, 2025
Went to Lalo’s for a birthday dinner and had an awesome experience. The chips were super fresh and crispy, and the salsa had the perfect amount of spice. The margaritas were really good too — nice balance and very refreshing.
We ordered the Chicken Taco Dinner, Carne Asada Burrito Dinner, Seafood Soup, and Carne Asada, Chicken Enchilada and everything came out hot, tasty, and well-seasoned. Portions were generous and satisfying.
The vibe was lively but still comfortable, and our server was friendly and quick. Overall, Lalo’s nailed it — great food, great service, and great energy. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to!

This place is ALWAYS great !!! Have been coming here for years, and the food is terrific, without fail. Huge portions, mean leftovers !!! The chicken soup is fit for a king. The crunchy ground beef tacos are excellent too. DO NOT SKIP THIS PLACE if you’re in the area. Staff is always friendly and nice as well. Long live Lalo’s !!!

While this place has obviously worked very hard on building their business, it really falls short in the taste of the food. My spouse ordered what they were calling on the menu “chicken quesadilla”, it really was just a chicken soft taco that lacked any flavor whatsoever. Their chips and salsa wasn’t very good either as the chips were very thick and the salsa had no flavor. Maybe I should have known better than to think you can get good Mexican food in Glenview, IL! My friends and I went to Lalo’s for lunch one day, and overall, it was a pretty good experience. The food was decent, but the service was phenomenal. The waiters were super attentive—they kept checking in on us, refilling our drinks, and restocking the complimentary chips and salsa without us even asking. That level of attention really stood out.
As for the food, the salsa wasn’t my favorite—it was okay but didn’t really wow me. I ordered the spicy sauce enchiladas, and let me tell you, if you love spice, these are for you. I thought I enjoyed spicy food, but this was on another level. Thankfully, the sour cream helped mellow it out a bit. My friend got the plain red sauce enchiladas, and she liked them, but we both agreed the sauces overall weren’t the best.
That said, the meal was still enjoyable. The atmosphere inside is really nice—great decor and a good vibe overall. If you’re in the Glenview area and craving Mexican food, Lalo’s is a solid choice, especially since there aren’t a ton of options around here. The amazing service definitely makes it worth a visit.

We went to this restaurant with some friends the other day. The ambiance was very nice, definitely had an authentic Mexican restaurant feel… In addition, the wait staff and the host were very nice.
However, unfortunately the food was subpar. Friends of mine ordered the carne asada which was overcooked, fatty and not very flavorful, and I ordered the shrimp dish which was overcooked and rubbery. The vegetables were very mushy, especially the tomatoes. I’m not sure if we just came at an off night or not, but we certainly were not happy with our meals. I could see one item not being very good, however, when it appeared to be all the main entrees, we were disappointed. One good point, the salsa and chips, as well as the guacamole was delicious. We’re going to head back there another month. We’ll see how it goes. I’ll update if necessary.

Found this place on New Year’s Day. What a pleasant surprise! Good food and the service was excellent. Loved the decor. We will definitely be back .

We had my father’s retirement party here. The appetizers for the party were good in quantity and taste, except the nachos. the appetizer comes with small bites of tamal, flauta, flour tortilla quesadilla, and nachos. the nachos were very dry. Before your main course they give you a small cup of chicken broth. I had the lime margarita and mango margarita, both delicious! I also had the chile rellenos, tasty and big. For dessert they give flan. I didn’t like the flan that much. It was very much more of a jell-o than a custard.

I was extremely impressed with our SERVICE person. She was very patient with the 4 of us while we discussed all the margarita choices and was very kind. When i ordered the Pollo con Mole, she brought me a sample of the mole first to make sure i would enjoy the dish
They serve what I would call a traditional array of Mexican FOOD. The guacamole was made in house and had chunks of avacado and cilantro but had no heat to it. My mole was more in the sweet category, ladled over very tender chunks of chicken. While the food all seemed prepared on site, the lime margarita was on the rocks and average, plenty of alcohol but it seemed like premix.
The service is what would bring me back.

I had a very pleasant experience at Lalo’s. Friday night dinner, luckily we got there around six so we quickly got a table, but the place was packed around 7. They have a lovely outdoor seating, and the inside is also nice: tastefully decorated and spacious. The service was excellent and their homemade chips are great. I had the enchilada de suiza and it was really tasty. I had a peek on the margaritas – they looked amazing and I’ll definitely try one next time around.
