I had been here one other time and it was fine, but the last time I visited was exactly that. The last time. I read the specials on the door, we sat down to eat. The waitress comes to take our drink order, she asks if we’re ready to order, we say yes, my wife orders her food, and when the waitress looks at me (mind you, she has made it apparent by this point that she doesn’t speak much English), I ask ‘Is your special today the chicken quesadilla?’, to which she replies, ‘No’. So I reply, ‘oh, it’s not?’, and she again says ‘No’, and looks down at my menu as if to hurry me up. This ticked me off a little. Feeling rushed, I ordered something at random on the spot, which happened to be BBQ Carnitas Nachos. An appetizer. She leaves without another word. She brings the food out a while later, and it’s disgusting. I’m not a picky eater either. But this was bad. I made it apparent I didn’t like the dish. The waitress never stopped by to ask how it was, or if we needed anything, nothing. Probably because she literally cant. I ended up going hungry, paid full price, left disgusted with the experience. My wife was satisfied with her meal at least, but this experience was so off-putting I will not be returning to this restaurant.
Note: Just typing about this experience, even weeks later, is causing frustration.

Best Mexican food we’ve had driving across the country. From Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, all the way to Florida, these guys in Missouri made the best food, fantastic salsa, and their steak tips fajitas and enchiladas are bomb.

My son and I came here for dinner, our server was wonderful, very intentional with her kindness and smiles all around. My dessert was brought out by another lady and the inside was still frozen and had chocolate, once Jennifer came back with a new order there was honey and strawberry on the side. Much more appealing to the food critics eyes and far tastier warm and sweet with strawberries. Make sure to ask for Jennifer with the smiles.

Chips and salsa are mid to fair… Sometimes the wait staff isn’t as concerned about being friendly but just getting their job done.
Food is decent and you get a good size portion for your money. I would say they’re really close to four and a half Stars but just don’t hit that benchmark food and services.

I have been to other locations and they are ok, but this location has the best food. The menu is larger and both of our meals came out perfect and definitely worth the money. The portions were large, the margaritas are good and the service was as well!

Everything has been remodeled except for the floor. Very bright and updated look. A small bar in the back even has 2 tv’s. Service was ok. I went after the lunch rush and it took a while to get my drink but after that everything was right. Chips were great. Chicken quesadilla was very crispy and delicious. Hopefully this place will stay open for a while unlike the several previous occupants.

We stopped in for lunch today. We received our meal in less than 5 minutes & the food was absolutely delicious! Service & pricing were both great as well. This will definitely become a regular option for us.

I’m a Mexican cuisine connoisseur. My husband told me I should have married a Mexican because I love the food lol! We have at least 4 places in our city that do not touch this place. El Maguey always has, and always, will be the best Mexican food I have ever had. Ase is the best server I have ever had!! This one in Harrisonville is so good that I’m willing to travel an hour to it. Best carne asade, best service, best queso Blanco. It’s what I’ve been looking for. The hot salsa is ❤️

The jalepeno margarita was excellent. They understood the assignment. It had the perfect pairing of jalepeno spice and lime. I ordered the street tacos and the carne asada was well seasoned and tender. We were seated right away and chips and salsa were promptly at our table. The server was very courteous and attentive. Next time we are in town we will definitely visit.
