I have waited for quite some time to try this pizza location. I finally won the family debate to go there tonight. And now I’m sad that I won. I initially wanted to be nice and gave two stars, but I think one may be more accurate. Here’s the situation. Every single pizza was overdone. From the 442, to the original Hemi, to our missing Roma, that was replaced with another 442, and our child size pizza. Every single one was nothing short of overdone. The 44 twos did not include sauce on the pizza and you needed to dip the pizza in the sauce, which was chunky, not saucy, which was just a dry experience all around. If you like Detroit style pizza, you’re probably better off just going to your local grocer’s freezer, and purchasing the Motor City Detroit Style pizza and heating it up yourself and it hasn’t failed me yet. For the price point, and the size, I expected greatness from Hemi, and it fell woefully short!

The pizza was amazing. Our first time having Detroit style pizza and possibly the best pizza I’ve ever had. We got a chicken bbq and a specialty hot honey one. Well worth it. Only critique is that the pick up was confusing. It’s in the lobby of an apartment building and inside of chef Tony’s restaurant for the pickup.

We got take out and made the mistake of not checking before we left.
Got home and our order was wrong and the pizza was burnt.
We got 4 pizzas. Only 1 wasn’t burnt.
We also got wings, they were ok, but far from the best.
Go elsewhere. Why would the chef let food that looks like this leave their kitchen?

Stopped by Hemi’s recently to pick up an order I placed online. If you are ever going to this spot you should factor in 10 mins just get in and out. It took me a while to not just get in the premises but also find the restaurant in the apartment complex (good thing it’s on the first floor). My order was ready when I got there and it was fresh (piping hot). If you like Detroit style pizza you will love this place. The portion size was fantastic.

Our go-to order is the garden harvest, the detroiter, the chicken pesto, and the seasonal braised beef. All of them are really good with unique toppings that make each pizza satisfy a different craving. Particularly the braised beef; super tender beef with a sweet bbq sauce that does not overpower the rest of the pizza. Our only issue with that pizza is that it is seasonal so we always look forward to when it comes back on the menu. The garden harvest is our next favorite with the brussel sprouts and caramelized onions; the selection pairs well with their red sauce and normally feels bountiful. We order about once a month and enjoy the results each time (and on time within 20 minutes of ordering).
Sometimes we’ve had some issues with an incorrect order or a miss on some quality control but the staff has always gone above and beyond to correct the mistake. The owner also responded to a previous rambling and unfair negative review that i left 2 months ago willing to talk about my issues even though he didn’t have to nor did i deserve that type of attention. Since i posted that first review, me and my family have continued to order with the results improving and all my issues alleviated so this update was long over due.
I took some pics of our most recent and best order yet but we had already dug in so the pics didn’t do the pizzas justice. i’ll be back later to add pictures of our next order.
We’ve never eaten in the restaurant so we can’t speak to the atmosphere but it has always looked calm and inviting while we’ve been picking up our order.

Listen… Don’t walk RUN to Hemi’s!! I wanted good square pizza last night and didn’t want to drive into the city. I stubble upon this place and the photos looked too good to be true but the reviews were good I said let me try it out. Called to pick up and actual Chef Tony answered phone which again sold me on the phone experience I had he gave great directions and recommendations. I downloaded the app and it was seems less! Kudos to whomever built it. (I’m in UI and UX) Walked in and the aroma from the other cuisine they make (oh they don’t just make pizza! ) had me drooling! Atmosphere was nice. The staff was amazing everyone greeted me and made sure I was being helped. Offered me water while I waited. It was clean also. Pizza was ready at the time it said it would be in the app.
Now for the taste! Ordered The Detroiter Texas BBQ Wings and Hella Hot Hemi Honey. Pizza was crispy gooey with the right amount of sauce for Detroit style but the flavor of the sauce was good too… Glad I got extra! Wings were good nice and meaty juicy I ordered BBQ and was given a Buffalo Sauce too. Thanks for that cause it was delish. It all was packaged well too they wrapped it so the warmth stays for my driven home. Like even thinking of doing that shows the level of care for the food they have. (Look at the wing video this is after opening the container.)
I’ll be back for sure and definitely for the restaurant too. I’m telling everyone I know you don’t have to go to the city for a square.. Hemi’s is where it’s at!

Absolutely incredible! The service from the crew is friendly and accommodating, the pizzas were truly delicious and the rewards program they have is pretty straightforward!
Ever since my exposure to the Deep! Deep! Dish Little Caesars pizza, I’ve always been intrigued to try the Detroit style pizza – while I haven’t been to Detroit, Michigan myself, the folks at HEMI Pizza definitely did their research on the craft, including using the right type of cheese, sauce, and blue steel pan to cook the pizzas in!
Well worth checking out, especially on Tuesdays! I’m definitely going to come back in the future!

Tried this pizza for the 1st time and OMG soooo i’ve been eating the wrong pizza all this time lol !!! This pizza is beyond delicous i ordered the crab pizza and the brick tomato sauce & cheese YUMMY !!! I am officially a loyal customer and i will tell the others ..lol!! Run dont walk …Best pizza i have evvvverr eaten !! a MUST try !! I ordered using Grubhub -Bethesda location ..Yes 10/10!! HEMIPIZZA this is good stuff!

Must try! The location is a challenge to find. You approach a gate community. A security guard will give you a parking pass. Parking in the first lot, and enter where it says “arcade.” Make a right then left. The hostess was friendly. I was able to order my pizza on a kiosk. The pizza was fresh and crispy. The crab pizza is a must try!

Very buttery, heavy, soft and crispy Detroit style pizza. But oh my god, getting here is a trip. This place is in the back of a private apartment complex where you have to go through a security gate, drive in circles, then roam through a maze of hallways with no signs or any indication there’s a pizza place anywhere. It’s honestly totally bizarre. I had to call the place multiple times to find where they were, and even the concierge at the apartment complex had never heard of this place. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone.
