Got the crispy pork w vietnamese iced coffee. Bread where it needed to be on the crunchy scale, pork was juicy and had crispy skin pieces, cilantro and pickled carrots were fresh and crispy. Paté really brought it together tight – french style with a port wine type of flavor instead of the bland kind you’ll find on lesser viet sandwich places.
Iced coffee tasted freshly made and expertly crafted – no bitter overbrewing, just the right amount of sweet.
I always order the banh mi heo quay, and it never disappoints. The pork is the star of the show; Terry, the owner, makes the crispy pork belly in-house. It’s roasted to perfection—crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. Combined with a fresh, airy baguette and the traditional toppings, it’s a perfect representation of the sandwich you’d find on a busy street corner in Vietnam.
You should also try their cha gio (spring rolls). They’re not those tiny ones you often get; these are a good size and fried beautifully.
Beyond the delicious food, the owner Terry is incredibly kind and welcoming. His passion for the food is clear, and it’s a pleasure to support a business that brings such genuine flavor and diversity to the Flushing community. If you’re looking for the real deal, this is it.
The protein servings were generous and flavorful. The baguette itself could be crispier and warmer. I also prefer a stronger flavor from my pickled carrots and daikon, TBD’s was on the mellower side.
The beef empanada was tasty but skew more Latin American than Vietnamese in taste.
Service was friendly and accommodating.
I prefer them over Joju.
This bánh mì spot checks all the boxes: rich, flavorful pâté, perfectly crisp bread, and the real essentials—pickled carrots and daikon, fresh jalapeños, and cilantro. Nothing is missing, nothing is overdone.
Huge shoutout to Terry, who is awesome and clearly passionate about what he does. Super friendly, welcoming, and genuinely proud of the food he’s serving. Please support this spot—great people, great energy, and the sandwiches are absolutely fire . I’ll definitely be coming again & again when I’m around. Or I can simply just doordash it!
And the best part is they don’t use MSG. The broth tastes clean and rich, and you can tell from the ingredients that they cook it with real care…..someone back there is definitely treating this broth like an art project 🙂
Very nice owner!! Was very friendly, very accommodating, and gave an iced coffee on the house (which was not two sweet and had an intense coffee flavor)
Then the banh mi… omg. Not gonna lie, it was kinda disappointing.
There was no pâté at all. Isn’t that basically one of the main things that makes a Vietnamese banh mi a banh mi??
The meat was super soft and low-key sad. No crispy edges, no grill marks, nothing. It tasted like they just warmed it up in a microwave or something.
Overall… yeah, this was a 1/10 for me.
Let’s start with the star: the Pork Belly Banh Mi . I’m officially obsessed. The magic is in the texture: the crackling crispiness of the pork skin against the juicy, flavorful meat is perfection. The baguette is toasted to a crispy exterior without being tough or doughy. The pickled daikon and carrots are generous but balanced never overwhelming. I add fresh jalapeño for a kick and it sends it over the top.
This isn’t just any sandwich. Having been to Saigon, I know authentic banh mi, and this is the real deal. The fact that it’s Viet-owned speaks for itself.
Pro Tips:
Finding it: It’s a bit tucked away, but worth the hunt. Take the LIRR to Main Street Flushing, it’s on the Manhattan side of the tracks, on 40th Road (across the street from the basketball court).
Must-Try Drink: GET THE VIET COFFEE. It’s strong, sweetened with condensed milk and has a serious coffee punch. Yes, it costs a bit more than the bakery coffee on Main Street, but they do not skimp. You pay for QUALITY.
Next Time: I’m a creature of habit with the pork belly, but they have other variety of banh Mi and little fried bites I can’t wait to try. I will be back to work my way through the menu.
I would stop by every single day if I could. Do yourself a favor and go. You should too.
