In 1952, Gus and Ida Lazzerini opened the doors of Club Lago for the first time. Their vision? To provide Northern Italian food to the printers and paper salesmen who worked in Smokey Hollow, the warehouse district around Superior and Orleans in Chicago.

Had to wait 11 years for our second visit, but so worth it! My sister and I enjoyed an incredible evening. Club Lago checked all the boxes. Outstanding service, warm friendly old school vibes and absolutely delicious food! We will definitely not wait so long to get back.

i was hungry and it was wildly cold out side. i got to sit by mySELF and eat some incredible eggplant parmigiana and have a glass of wine. it was so awesome to be ALONE idk why but i just needed a spell. so thank you. YUM. and i reheated the rest in the oven the next day. incredible. thank you to the waitstaff who thought my thoughts for me bc i was too hungry to think. lol

Tonight I dined at Club Lago and it was very comforting in the way that the dim lights And the neon signs on the windows provided the atmosphere with a little intimacy as diners started to arrive. I immediately took a seat at the bar and was welcomed with a warm hello. I ordered my first drink and as I sipped I parused the menu for the nights meal. After a short amount of time I was able to place my food order which was delivered in record time. The food is delicious home style Italian cooking and I felt like I could have spent more time there. The service was excellent and I did not have to ache and pain for the bar keep or wait staff to handle my check. I have been going to Lago for years now and they never disappoint. Great food, great atmosphere. As I left more table were seated and begun to fill. Good times over all.

Wow! My wife and I love this authentic, historic, charming restaurant. Our first time here and the European cup was on the TV. Everybody was speaking Italian and it was like we were at a private party in a good way.
The food is amazing! The character is unmatched! Our first time here but it reminds us Soo much of our past trips to Italy and how much we like Italians. Thanks for being sooo authentic! We will see you often.

If you go to Chicago and you don’t have a meal at Club Lago, you will have missed an absolute gem. Family-owned for decades, the food is excellent and the atmosphere is so welcoming. I met a friend for a drink and had their unbelievably delicious meatballs, covered in bolognese, and several pieces of fresh bread to sop up the sauce with. Love this spot.

We came across this cute little restaurant while downtown celebrating my husband’s birthday! We were skeptical at first just based off first impression (not a fancy setting but still presentable) . The food was absolutely DELICIOUS down to our CocaCola!!!
