Reviews
There are outdoor seating which we initially were going for, but upon noticing how dusty the tables were, we decided to dine inside instead. Echoing what other reviewers mentioned, the service could’ve been better. The male server seemed disinterested and wasn’t even trying to be friendly, which are the exact opposite of what Indonesians are known for. I also noticed how they were friendlier to another diner who was white. That left a bad taste in my mouth.
•Cendol – Pretty good, not too sweet.
•Asinan Buah – Refreshing!
•Sate Ayam (Chicken Satay) – Tasty, especially when eaten with the peanut sauce.
•Sate Babi (Pork Satay) – Bursting with flavor! A must order!
•Kari Ayam (Chicken Curry) – Good flavor. Potatoes unfortunately were undercooked.
•Rendang – Decent. I also cook my own rendang and I can say they could’ve been more flavorful. This is just a matter of personal preference.
•Desserts – The two desserts we had were pretty good!
This place has potential to be better. Food is overall good but the service definitely can be improved.
• Date Babi: Very tasty, with a flavorful sauce.
• Nasi Campur with Chicken: Generally well-executed, though the large cracker felt unnecessary. The dish included an egg coated in what tasted like sambal, which didn’t quite blend cohesively with the rest.
• Nasi Uduk with Pork Belly & Potatoes: The meat and rice were delicious, but the vegetables weren’t to my taste, and the egg with sauce was just okay.
Our biggest disappointment was the service. Our server seemed disinterested from the start. After we were seated, we waited a few minutes, which was fine, but the greeting felt lackluster—at the time menus were provided, we were immediately asked about drinks while being told about a special in a low-energy manner. You don’t need to be a hype man, but some warmth would have been nice. Another staff member delivered the food, which was fine as it arrived hot, but we only saw our initial server again for a water refill and the check. Overall, the food was mostly enjoyable, but the lackluster service left a stronger impression.
Food was not as flavorful as I expected for Indonesian, but it wasn’t bland or completely westernized either. Flavors and textures were there, the flavors just didn’t like explode in your mouth with each bite.
Servers were great! Knowledgeable and attentive. The interior is beautifully decorated and it had that warm, cozy feel. May return with friends who want to try something new.
The service was genuinely good. The staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming. No complaints there at all.
I ordered the Nasi Campur with pork belly and potato. The presentation was nice, but the flavors were really hard for me to enjoy. The pork belly sauce was extremely dark, overly reduced, very salty, and also oddly sweet. It tasted almost burnt and actually stung my mouth from the saltiness. Several pieces of the pork belly were pure fat, which was pretty unpleasant.
The large cracker on top tasted stale and was awkward to eat. The fried egg was probably my favorite part, but it barely had any sambal on it. I’ve seen photos from other reviews where the egg is generously covered in sauce, so that was disappointing. The fried eggplant had the same issue. Very little sauce and the flavor didn’t really penetrate, so it mostly tasted like plain eggplant.
The rice was fine. The jackfruit tasted canned and heavily pickled, very salty with that distinct canned flavor. The green beans were just average. The fried tempeh was honestly the worst part for me. It tasted extremely funky, almost like dirty socks, and I couldn’t eat it.
Overall, the dish felt overwhelming and chaotic in flavor. Too salty, too strong, and not well balanced. I couldn’t finish it.
My husband ordered the gado gado and didn’t like it either. Too many ingredients and the flavors felt all over the place. Neither of us finished our meals.
I’m sure this place works for some people who really love bold, intense flavors, but for us it was a miss. Given how excited we were to try it, the experience was a letdown and we probably won’t be returning.
