We usually order takeout from fob poke, but we wanted to try this place today. They don’t have that many different toppings or varieties as fob poke, like they don’t have the spicy crab salad or tamagoyaki (egg). The dressing seems less as well, but they do have some different toppings such as the tangerines which my hubby doesn’t care much. I think it’s nice but doesn’t blend well with the rest of the poke bowl. You can ask them to torch the protein too, which was actually fun to watch. I also like seared fish more as well.
The downside is that the white was soggy, but mine was better since it’s brown rice. The employee was actually super nice and asked us for customization and she also told us that avocado is free right now in the summer.
It’s a nice place if you are into poke, poke burrito or musubi. It’s definitely more Hawaiian. I’d still go to fob poke for poke though as they have more varieties there.
Ps. I forgot to take a pic of what we got, but the container seems to be bigger than fob poke’s, so they look less full.
8/7/25 update:
They reached out about my review and offered a free poke bowl to make things right. Went back and tried the brown rice instead – delicious with no complaints!
Unfortunately, today my experience was very different. Annabel (hopefully I spell her name correctly) who served me food was incredibly rude.
Before she closed the container with a lid, I told her that I would be eating here because I didn’t want extra plastic to be used unnecessarily. Despite that, she still put the lid on and told me that I should have said it earlier. As far as I know, staff usually ask whether the order is for here or to go before serving it.
I also asked for a little more edamame. She said I would have to pay extra. When I asked how much, she said she didn’t know, and then removed some of the edamame from my plate and put it back into their container. It felt very strange and unpleasant.
At the end, I asked for chopsticks, and she literally threw them in front of me and looked at me as if I were trash.
It was a very uncomfortable experience. I hope management will pay attention to this situation and provide better customer service training for Annabel.
However, I would like to mention that there was a guy, I don’t know his name, but he was nice and friendly. I’ve seen him here before; he is always very polite, and he slightly improved my overall impression of this place.
On top of that, the service was not good either. After checking my printed receipt at the counter, I noticed I was charged $2 extra by mistake. I clarified it with the employees, but the only two employees on shift said they could not process refunds. Instead, they kept offering free add-ons as a replacement. I ended up with one extra scoop of spicy salmon, but I didn’t want extra food. I wanted the charge corrected/refunded.
Overall, the food quality and service were not acceptable. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Please save yourself and your money and don’t come here.
