I love this place. I used to live in the neighborhood in the early 90s to 2001. Every time we come into town we get off the airplane jump in a car and come directly to East of Eden’s. This is a genuine Chicago joint with great burgers dogs and gyros. The food is fantastic.

Incredibly sad, we have been customers here for close to 30 years. Stopped in for a quick Soda To Go while doing an errand next door. 9 dollars for 2 small sodas-maybe 16 oz max the same soda that Costco Charges.69 cents for! Honestly it’s criminal. The owner knew we were grabbing them
To go-why not inform us a can of soda would be cheaper.
We are not getting refills as we were walking right out. It’s not out of the realm of comprehension to guide your customers to a more economical path. I actually have had some conscientious business owners do this. So sadly to screw me over for a $9 soda order, he lost a 30 year customer. When I asked him about the cost -he told me to go to the grocery store, so I will do just that! Bye East of Eden’s!

I went here for lunch. I had a Gyros and it was excellent. The meat was made just right. The pita was crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The tomatoes were fresh. The tzatziki sauce was great.
I had onion rings with the meal and they were very good. They were crispy and just the right color.
The people were friendly. It was clean inside.
I will return next time I’m in the area.
Bicycling: Both roads at the corner are busy and not the most cycling friendly. It’s really too bad as there are two trails less than a mile away. Hopefully the local government will put some cycling infrastructure in the area. The nice thing is they have outdoor seating.

Two large cokes to go for almost 9 dollars!!! I should’ve just said keep it and the guy the owner is always crabby never smiles never says hello. We’ll never go in there again and we’ve been customers for the better part of 20 years!!! Barely 16 ounce!!!

I was pretty bummed here when I visited for the first time last week. $8.25 for a small wrap that took roughly five bites to eat – pretty disappointing price per food. It was packed with great flavor, though. Service was minimal. I’ll give it another try sometime.
