1) Love and Care: If you are lucky you’ll meet Marco, the brains behind Simply Sabor. He cares deeply about his customers and serving delicious high quality food.
2) Portions: I’ve never left hungry. In fact I’ve taken leftovers home.
3) Deliciousness: Between my husband and I we’ve had 4 of the menu items. We actually have different preferences in food and Simply Sabor meets us both where we are at. Spicy and hot enough to make my husband’s tastebuds happy and the mild side of the house still giving me a kick w/o being too boring or too strong.
4) Vibe: Simply Sabor is located inside a neighborhood grocery store. It’s casual but also buttoned up. I feel well taken care of but not fussed over.
5) Details: I LOVE eating off their handmade dishes. Such an amazing touch to have these beautiful plates and mugs. I swear they add flavor to the already great food.
6) Café de Olla (I think): blushing here bec/I’m no expert in Mexican Cuisine- but I believe this amazing coffee drink at Simply Sabor is called Café de Olla. It’s got great flavor, spice and sweetness. The perfect afternoon pick-me-up. I adore the mugs they serve it in, too.
From the moment we walked in, Marco made us feel genuinely welcome. Warm, friendly, and incredibly personable, he took the time to chat with us, share his passion for the food.
This restaurant, tucked in a food market, is a hidden gem that I can’t wait to revisit. Simply Sabor has officially earned a place on my all-time favorites list!
I ordered an al pastor super burrito and was happily surprised to find that they offer a choice of pinto or black beans and I don’t find many places that offer black beans, which is my go to for super burritos. The lady informed me that aside from meat, beans, rice, onions, and cilantro, the super burrito comes with sour cream, which is interesting since it normally comes with guacamole as well but you can add that on (I didn’t ask the price but assume it would be $3-4). I ended up waiting almost 15 mins for my burrito, which was a bit longer than I was expecting but it is what it is.
I ended up taking it home to eat so I didn’t get a chance to check it but needless to say, it was rather disappointing. It’s smaller than almost any other burrito around here and one of the more expensive ones. You can see from the photo that it’s mostly soggy rice, hardly any meat, no sour cream and I didn’t get black beans.
This was so disappointing that I’m not sure I’ll go back for a $16 burrito. They get an extra star for including chips.
