Finally found a respectable and authentic Chinese restaurant in NOLA/BR area. The dishes and flavours tend to be on the sweeter side, which is perfect because I’m from Jiangsu. We only tried a few dishes but will be back to try the salted duck next time we are passing through.

Dining at China Rose is always a delight! I go with friends and eat family style, enjoying a variety of Sichuan dishes off the Chinese menu. We love the sliced fish & pickle soup, stir fried string beans (that come with delicious fried ginger), eggplant in hot garlic sauce, crispy fish fillet (with salt and pepper seasoning); and for meat eaters, the pan fried pork dumplings! 10/10 For both service and quality. ⭐️ Can’t wait to come back!

The food really wasn’t that bad its just some of it tasted dry even with the sauces. The chicken for each dish (sweet &sour and General’s)was either over fried or sat all for too long. Honestly the egg rolls were the best part of the meal.
Service was so so,but the atmosphere of the resturant was pretty decent.

China Rose has become a staple of our household. It’s always amazing coming here, and getting really premium chinese food, that’s packed with flavour!
They have both a westernised, and an authentic chinese menu, both of which are packed with incredible dishes. All the waitresses and the owner are always happy to give suggestions on what to get, even if you only have a general idea of what you want.
I really reccomend the fish maw soup, its beautiful, and doesn’t have any bones in it!

Ask for the Chinese menu obviously if you want authentic. I had the cold duck and it was fantastic. Also the pea sprouts are also fantastic. The beef and tripe was a little sweet for my taste.

This may be a hidden jewel. Pretty nice little restaurant hiding in an isolated area. Friendly staff. We were offered two sets of menus – a regular Americanized menu and another one with only authentic Chinese dishes printed in both Mandarin and English. We took the authentic menu and I was very impressed with their variety.

Highly recommend:
1) West Lake beef soup (西湖牛肉羹, which was lightly seasoned that we love),
2) cumin lamb ribs (孜然羊排 my husband’s fav), and
3) stir-fry greens (清炒豌豆苗 my personal fav).

Not our favs but still good:
4) Eggplant with sweet sauce (鱼香茄子), and
5) some pork belly dish (虎皮肉). Sorry that I forgot the English name but I took a picture.

The last two were a bit too sweet for us, so next time I’ll try the other eggplant dish with fresh garlic without sweet sauce.

I would give zero stars if I could. Place is very dirty and the food reflects that. We ordered the won ton soup and it tasted like dirty sink water and smelled horrible. Told them to cancel our entrees and they forced us to pay for them because they already started making them. Unbelievably rude and unprofessional. Don’t waste your money, you will get food poisoning.

food is delicious but the waitress was horrible. bad attitude and she asks you about her tip…. so rude and unprofessional. she asked how much % we were going to tip and i said 15% and she said something about 20% (sorry i couldn’t really understand her) but i said ok and she put the tip as 20% not 15%. I’ve never had a waitress ask me how much i’m going to tip before, i don’t want to come back if she will be my waitress which is a shame because the food is good.

I’ve went to China Rose many times, and their Mapo Tofu never fails to impress—it’s so authentic and flavorful that it makes the versions at other Chinese restaurants taste like nothing more than tofu in chili bean paste.
Ever since trying China Rose’s Mapo Tofu, I’ve started using this dish as my personal benchmark for judging the authenticity of Chinese cuisine.
For anyone looking to experience truly authentic Chinese flavors, I highly recommend their Mapo Tofu, crispy fried pork intestine, and dry-fried string beans—all absolutely delicious.

The worst crab Rangoon I’ve ever had. The lo mein has no flavor. But the egg drop soup was ok. It was so hot in the restaurant, it was uncomfortable.
The staff was nice enough though. Won’t be back. Not worth the $45 I spent
