Restaurant Kampai, Place du Marché Versailles

I came all the way from the US and I wanted to find some great quality food in France. I had the sushi and so far that’s the best quality sushi I’ve ever had.

We 14 people, 6 adults and 8 children, just walking around to find a good sushi restaurant, and we found this high review points restaurant, the staff are friendly, after we had seats, it looks many other guests coming soon and the restaurant was almost full 。we ordered different kinds of ramen and rolls and others, the food is delicious! The staff is very nice! Very recommended.

Great location. Friendly and attentive service, and the staff speaks English. The ramen is delicious with a generous portion.

The ramen was too salty & the noodles were overcooked, and it came out luke warm. I also ordered the Tuna poky & they sent me the wrong item and because of the language barrier it was a major problem, but overall, it was okay.

This place was amazing. The staff were really nice. I came all the way from the US and I wanted to find some great quality food in France. I had the sushi and so far that’s the best quality sushi I’ve ever had. Very delicious and fresh. The Japanese lemonade was very good as well. And you can’t go wrong with their desserts. I had the Perle du Japon, which is a tapioca based dessert with mango puree on the top. This was delicious. The quality and amount of food you get for the price is perfect.

I had higher expectations before coming to this place . My overall experience was average to sum it up . The highlight of my dinner was the chicken and veggies gyozas grilled . The salmon sashimi were fresh ( 6 pieces). The salmon spicy makis ( 8 pieces) were fine not wow although its a signature dish , the rice was hard instead of putting hot chili sauce , a japepeno or a real red hot pepper would be better . The fried tofu was tastless it needed another powerful sauce . The prices are on a high range . Maybe i should have sticked to a ramen bowl but i did not find a shrimp ramen ( only pork or chicken on the menu ) .

Very good japanese restaurant in Versailles.
The ramen was delicious and the ingredients were fresh, a bit more meat would make it 5/5.

Stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised at how good the food is. We enjoyed a miso ramen and a bowl of gyudon. To start we shared an order of gyoza and it was good. Service was very good and our food arrived to our table with good timing. Can recommend this establishment when in Versailles.

Excellent venue and decorations in the restaurant. Location is in center of Versailles, easily located and accessible. There are 2 storeys available, spacious and suitable for solo to group. Menu is clear with English translation, there are also set menu with reasonable price for big eaters or group. They serve Japanese beer and is a plus point, but have to be conscious of the temperature to serve- it has to be really chilled. Food quality is fresh and undeniably great. The edamame is warm and lightly salted as it should be. The chicken karaage is tender and fried to the right doness. Mixed Chirashi is served with fresh sashimi, it is incredible. The miso soup ramen with pork cha shu is slightly disappointing- the soup base can be simmered longer to enhance its flavour and serve piping hot. The ramen used seems to be of instant grade and less springy. However, it is worth to mention that all the other ingredients used are fresh and can make an even better ramen if were cooked properly. Overall, it is a nice place to dine at. Tapas and sashimi dishes are our recommendation.

I had very high expectation after I read the review, but my experience was not that great. Food is ok but it is not real Japanese food… perhaps it is difficult? The best dish is probably Chicken Gyoza (but no sauce as it should), Chicken karake and Chicken Yakitori. The tempura is just like shrimp breadcrumbs with sweet & sour sauce (totally wrong). The tonkatsu is really bad, overcooked and dry (it is nearly burnt!) the sushi is so so… Ramen is horrible but my son liked it.

The staffs are friendly and service is not bad.

We had a very nice meal in this new Kampai. Two servings of ramen, quite tasty, one with miso soup and another with soja broth, plus a set of tapas as entry. It was about time there was a Japanese restaurant serving ramen in Versailles!
The establishment is also very nice and the staff friendly and welcoming. I recommend this restaurant, it has been quite the discovery!
