I love Thai food and all the curries. All the Coconut Thai restaurants in Sacramento are excellent. I’m so excited that The Coconut opened a new restaurant in Elk Grove.

I tried them out a couple of weeks ago. The dining room is much smaller than the other Coconut restaurants in the Sacramento area. There is no room between tables. It was a little uncomfortable!

We ordered a red curry with shrimp, which comes with white or brown rice. I got the brown. Both the curry and rice were excellent. However, the boat noodles we ordered were as good as the curry! The soup is too light, and the beef is almost inedible! The overcooked beef was too tough to bite!

The service was a bit slow. But they’re soft opening at the time. I think they should be improving soon!

Saw there was a new Thai place in Elk Grove, so I roped someone to try it out with me. The verdict? It’s alright.

The menu highlight for us was the curry puffs. Surprised something so small packed such a punch of flavor! The cheese wontons was pretty good, too. The mango curry was decent, especially considering I came for the mango curry. I just wished they had bigger chunks of mango in it. The pineapple fried rice was kind of meh. It was a little too dry, making the flavor not as expected. Definitely on the lower half of our pineapple fried rice comparison chart. The pad thai was also just meh, as there wasn’t a lot of the flavor one comes to expect with pad Thai. These two dishes in particular were a little bit of a let down. The mango sticky rice wasn’t bad though. Definitely was a nice way to end the meal.

The staff was definitely very accommodating and nice. Mainly only saw one person on the floor, but they were taking orders, cleaning up, and always making sure our water cups was full like a champ!

Location wise, the restaurant is definitely a lot smaller than most smaller restaurants. There was only about maybe 5-8 tables or so, but it was pretty compact. I can definitely see why most people rather just order takeout.

Overall, definitely wouldn’t mind ordering takeout for the curry puffs and mango curry, especially when I don’t feel like driving too far.

Good service and good food. The papaya salad was not what I expected. I think their special dressing is made of lime and soy sauce, I’m used to lime and fish sauce. I must say they do cater to vegetarian, so this would be a great spot for those. We got everything else with chicken. My husband did enjoy the eggplant dish the most and my kids loved the thai fried rice, just enough flavor for them. Their thai tea is absolutely delicious! The portion size is massive, great value for sure. Also wanted to note that their medium spicy level isn’t too spicy, it’s hard for me to consume spicy food and I handled it pretty well.

We’ve gotten take out from them several times, and really enjoyed the food. The service was fast. We were very pleased that they offer brown rice at no extra charge. It is a very small location with maybe 10 tables.

First time ordering to go from Coconut Thai! Very friendly staff, very nice ambience. Got chicken pad Thai medium spice and steamed veggies. Veggies could have been steamed longer, I like them soft but pad Thai was very yummy! Would come here again:)

Ordered the Fresh Roll, Tom Kha-shrimp, Tom Yum-shrimp, and Pineapple Fried Rice – shrimp. All where great! Very fresh and flavorful! Shrimp had the tail removed so it was nice not to have to dig through our dinner with our hands. Service was excellent! There are 7 tables inside for dining and takeout is available.

This place is mediocre to me, I think the food was good, but it was so hot inside on a summer day, I don’t think there was A/C, the restaurant is small and very basic. For the same price I paid we could have a better experience somewhere else

I was a regular customer at Coconuts on T Street but when one opened in Elk Grove. I wanted to try it since I live in Elk Grove. I was very disappointed as the Basil Chicken I usually order at the T Street Restaurant did not have much flavor and the brown rice seemed very sticky like they added too much water in cooking the rice. I think will just order from the T Street Restaurant. Very disappointed

Amazing food, we are vegetarian and they have ample choices to make. Thai fried rice, green curry and of course mango sticky rice with coconut ice cream stood out. Definitely a place to visit.
