Valentine’s Day is usually amateur night for restaurants. Reservations disappear weeks in advance and what’s left is often the leftovers. We managed to grab a 5:00 PM table at Baonecci Restaurant in Plano after planning more than a month ahead. Early bird territory, sure, but sometimes that’s where the good stuff lives.

The moment we walked in it felt different. At the front stood a father and son quietly running the room like seasoned pros, watching every table and greeting guests like old friends.
We sat near the door and got a front row seat to the rhythm of the place. Regulars streamed in all evening. One couple greeted the owner like family and started talking about a trip they had both taken overseas. Another guest had clearly been coming for years. The room had that warm neighborhood buzz where people talk about pasta the way others talk about their grandmother’s cooking.

And the food delivered. House made pastas cooked perfectly al dente, rich sauces that tasted like someone cared, thin crust pizzas, and bruschetta that disappeared faster than we expected.

Drinks were sharp. Plates came back empty.

Places like this remind you what a neighborhood Italian restaurant is supposed to feel like. Warm, welcoming, and full of stories.

I am a gourmet when it comes to food, and whenever someone tells me a restaurant has amazing food, I immediately go and try it. I honestly don’t care how luxurious a restaurant looks — what matters to me is delicious food that doesn’t give me heartburn, burping, or bloating. And Baonecci is definitely one of those places.

I truly appreciate restaurants that prepare food in a way that you can enjoy it, eat well, and still feel good afterward — not overly full or uncomfortable. Baonecci does exactly that.

My clients told me about this restaurant, and because I know how picky they are when it comes to food, I decided to invite my family there. The moment we walked in, I immediately felt that we were in the right place. The owner greeted us in a very Italian way — warm, genuine, and confident, without any fake smiles. And I understand why: he knows his restaurant offers the best to its customers — excellent food, warm service, clean utensils, and a comfortable atmosphere.

One thing I especially appreciated was that there was no loud music playing. When you go out with family, you want to actually talk to each other and hear each other, not shout across the table.

I truly cannot say enough good things about this place. I’ve already recommended it to many of my clients, family members, and my Instagram followers — and I will continue telling everyone I know about it.

Thank you, Baonecci, for giving us the opportunity to experience a true taste of Italy here in the DFW area. So far, you are the best!

I had the chance to finally try Baonecci this past week and it was a phenomenal experience!

Our waiter, Rogelio, taught us all about the restaurant’s history and about the menu. Baonecci used to be in San Francisco and recently came to Frisco, TX in the last 3 years. Their entire menu is ordered in fresh from Europe, pastas and pizzas are handmade in house, and everything lacks processed ingredients.

To begin, we ordered white wine and I believe the Judas Spritz, which contained red wine, orange, and more. Both were excellent and paired perfectly with our appetizers and meals.

For our appetizers, we ordered the Bruschetta and the Tagliere Toscano, or charcuterie board. The bruschetta was some of the best we have ever had and was made with excellently toasted bread. The Tagliere Toscano contained a variety of tasty meats, cheese, olives, as well as focaccia bread. It was a perfect board and not too heavy before our main meal. We also split the Baonecci Salad, which contained romaine lettuce, arugula, goat cheese and pears. It was absolutely delicious and perfect for the two of us.

For our entrees, we ordered the Ravioloni Riccotta e Spinaci and an item from the secret menu, veal ravioli with white sauce. We also spilt a Contadina pizza. We were absolutely blown away by each of these dishes, the Ravioloni Riccotta e Spinaci was my particular favorite. The ravioli ricotta and spinach was served with the best gorgonzola cream sauce and topped with walnuts, it was honestly one of my favorite dishes I have had this year. The secret menu item was classic Italian and another hit. We loved the Contadina pizza as well. It was made very thin and crispy, echoing true Italian style. It definitely could be an appetizer because it was very light. It was made with gorgonzola, mozzarella, parmesan and topped with curly pears, it was delicious!

Lastly, for dessert, Rogelio recommended we try the Coppa Amarena over the Tiramisu, so we did. It was a great choice! The Coppa Amarena is vanilla gelato topped with Amarena cherries. It is a perfect, fruity and light dessert to end the night with. However, I would love to come back for the Tiramisu!

Overall, it was an absolutely amazing experience. The food is authentic, Italian and clearly made fresh and in-house. Our waiter, Rogelio, also made it such a fun night and gave us amazing recommendations that made the entire experience great. I cannot wait to come back and try more from the menu and have some of these dishes again. Don’t let it deter you that it is located in a strip mall, it is truly a hidden, Italian gem. I look forward to returning soon! Thank you so much for a great experience and night!!

This is the best Italian restaurant I’ve tried in DFW metro area! The food was superb, and the people were friendly. We loved our seafood risotto a lot as you can taste the freshness from the ocean, and the pizza had flavorful truffle aroma.

We definitely enjoyed our dinner, will revisit this place again for sure!

Had a wonderful dining experience at Baonecci! The standout dish was definitely the tagliatelle al sugo – perfectly cooked pasta with a rich, flavorful sauce. The service throughout the evening was exceptional – attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu.

The focaccia was delicious, though it would have been even better with a side of olive oil for dipping. That’s really my only minor critique of an otherwise excellent meal.

Overall, Baonecci delivers on both food quality and hospitality. Would definitely return and recommend to others looking for authentic Italian cuisine with great service.

I ordered the Monte Bianco pizza, which had no meat listed on the menu and no meat shown on Google Photos. When I asked before ordering, I was told I could add meat, so I assumed it came without any.

The pizza came with pork, which I don’t eat. When I asked them to remove it, the waiter looked at me like it was a problem and unpleasant look.

The food is overpriced ($29 for a 12-inch pizza, $4 for a can of Coke), the crust tasted like a cracker and dry hard as brick

Service: 0/10. I do not recommend this place.

DONT TRUST THE GOOD REVIEW. They are screwed. If you want the honest review, click on the ones with lowest reviews. They are real customer experience not paid. The food and experience is not worth spending a dime.

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU HAVE DIETARY RESTRICTION and WANT A DIRTY ATTITUDE from people.

Such a cozy and truly authentic Italian restaurant. The pasta is absolutely amazing — fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of rich, traditional flavor. You can really taste the quality and care in every dish.

This place is family-owned, which makes it feel even more special. The chef even came out to say hello, and the owner, Walter, was so kind and took the time to talk with us. That personal touch made the whole evening feel warm and welcoming — like dining in someone’s home in Italy.

If you’re looking for real Italian comfort food in an intimate, friendly atmosphere, this is the place. We’ll definitely be back! ✨

This was the most lovely restaurant I have ever eaten at. Each member of the staff has the most welcoming presence and genuine personality! The service was beyond impeccable, and the food was unmatched! Authentic Italian cuisine is hard to come by in America, yet here it is, brought by Stefania and Walter and their kind family! The ambience was perfect and made our first experience dining here amazing! We plan to try the entire menu starting with each staff member’s favorites! Our lovely waitress was America!! We loved her!! Thank you, friends! We enjoyed every bit of this restaurant!!
