I think the restaurant is being rated mostly by those who haven’t had enough experience with authentic Indian food. Look, the food is not bad – it’s decent enough. But the flavors don’t match expectations. Being very well versed with Indian food, I had certain benchmarks when I read names like “Malai Chicken Tikka” or “Butter Chicken”. They didn’t taste like what they should – but maybe if they had named the dish closer to what they actually make, mentally, I would have connected and enjoyed them more. Perhaps North Indian food is not their forte – which is disappointing, given the restaurant is called “Delhi” . My honest recommendation is, if you know legit Indian food or have spent time in India, maybe this is not the best restaurant for you. If you don’t care that much and want okay food that is filling, sure, give it a go. Given the weather, I wish they had served momos (another missed opportunity for a restaurant named “Delhi”). The decor/theme was a bit all over the place – nudging slightly on the edge of confusion. Our server was nice and hard working; took care of us! Parking space is available but limited right by the entrance steps.

Incredible food, cool atmosphere, and impeccable service by Andre! What a gem in monteverde. I got the aloo gohbi, rice and garlic naan. Amazing flavors! Top notch as compared to excellent Indian food all over the world. Personal rice size was plenty for me, and would work for two people. Good size naan as well which also could be split for two. Andre welcomed me with a huge smile and lovely recommendations, and he made sure I was good the entire meal. The place is gorgeous and was buzzing with travelers from all over who all loved the food! The chef here surely knows their flavors.

The most delicious Indian food- so delicious that my mum and I ate here 2 nights in a row. Amazing vegan options!! We tried the aloo gobi, chickpea masala and tamarind eggplant for mains and had the onion bahji and garlic naan. All of them were so flavourful and authentic. The head chef Raj and the waiter that served us were so friendly, professional and helpful.
Do yourself a favour and eat dinner at Delhi Indian restaurant!

Fiance and I were already in CR for about 5 days and had been eating a lot of CR and other Latin foods and needed a change. We kept passing by Delhi in and out from our hotel. We came and we were 1 of 2 parties. So depending on when you come, you won’t have an issue getting seated. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, garlic butter naan, and bhaji. Safe to say we cleaned our plates! Raj, the chef working there that day who is also 3rd partner came out to check on us. Very nice and personal! He even gave us a mango pudding to try! Definitely come here to get your Indian fix!!

The perfect place for a rainy day. We ordered vegetable biriani, butter chicken, naan and when we mentioned a dish that wasn’t on the menu he offered to make it and it was DELICIOUS. The naan was a little different than I’m used to, this one was thinner and had a little crunch to it at places, there was still a chew to it, but it was on the thinner side- still delicious. Definitely authentic, we met the owner and he’s so cool and young and made me want to support this business even more. He is about to add another cuisine on the menu and I’m sure it will also be great. It was a nice break from Costa Rican food too. I love a good Casado but after eating at sodas for a week this was a pleasant change.
It’s worth it! Oh, and the serving sizes were great, we are going to have it as leftovers tomorrow for lunch.

We parked and as soon as we went out the car, the guy was expecting us, and welcomed us in a very friendly way though he is very quite.

Extremely attentive, and always with a smile.
The food arrived quick and it was delicious!!!

I highly recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere is very appropriate, the light is cozy and the music is always on point.

I had a fantastic experience! The butter chicken was rich and flavorful, with a wonderfully creamy texture that made it stand out. The rice was perfectly cooked—fluffy, aromatic, and complemented the curry beautifully. The naan was hands-down best in class—soft, warm, and just the right amount of chewy. I also loved the mango lassi, which was refreshing and not overly sweet. The service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. To top it all off, the space itself was charming and cozy, making the whole meal feel even more special. Definitely a place I’d recommend and return to!

After a week of enjoying local Costa Rican cuisine, we were looking for a change of pace and found this gem. As someone with Indian roots, I can honestly say the food was incredible. The Murgh Lasooni was absolutely on point! We returned the next day for the lamb, which was equally delicious.

What really sets this place apart is the owner, Raj. He is incredibly welcoming and friendly. He mentioned a special fish curry he makes, and even though it wasn’t available that night, he invited us back the following day specifically to try it. It was easily one of the best meals of our trip. I usually try to stick to local food while traveling, but this place was so good we ended up eating here three times. Highly recommended!
