I’ll be trying the gumbo & rotisserie chicken next.
What I love the MOST is NONE of the food was GREASY, SALTY or sloppy.
The sweet potatoes were still soft but solid, not drenched in sugar and mushy.
Mac N Cheese, Chicken Tetrazzini were sufficient in cheesy but not overpowering.
The BBQ sauce for the ribs is really good too
The gravy for the cornbread stuffing is really good as well.
I have officially tried everything on the menu, except the pot roast, which is typically served on Sundays.
The consistency of how the food is made is exhilarating
Try everything & Be patient when you come in.
Only thing is visible and consistent signage for any closings; holidays, emergencies, or early dismals.
The only thing I wish they had was a Koolaid, lemonade, or tea they only have soft drinks but other then that its a 20 out of 10 for me!
After a long day, getting home ready to eat just for this to happen was frustrating. I called the store and was told the only way to resolve it was to drive back up there, which isn’t convenient. I just expect consistency and properly cooked food.
That said, with a little bit more salt and pepper everything really came to life and I loved this meal. Will defintely be back on my next trip to Dallas.
Ambiance: This is a small local spot that have probably 6 tables that is pretty close together. This place is not good for a big party. In addition, they have two patio tables for sitting outside. The parking is somewhat limited and shared with surrounding businesses. During my time of dining, it was very hot inside. So be warned if you tend to go here during the summertime.
Service: Service is very limited. There is an employee who take orders and possible one person that bring the orders to you. The employee that took the orders did advise customers to which items that they were out of before ordering. Unfortunately, did not inform any daily or monthly specials.
Food: Again, unfortunately this is not upscale soul food. During my visit, I ordered rotisserie without the dressing. Therefore, I replaced the dressing with some candied yams. Regrettably, you can tell the yams came out of a can instead of being freshly made. In addition, the green beans tasted like they were out of can, and the mac-n-cheese were just okay with melted cheese on top. Again, I asked for rotisserie chicken and taste more like regular baked chicken. Also, I would include that most sit-down restaurants need fountain drink machines for refills or at least refills on water. Bottled water, bottled soda, or bottled teas are not worth it especially if it really hot and customers is thirsty from the heat and charging those bottled drink 3x times for what they are worth. In addition, I order cabbage that was listed, sad to say, the cook had to come out and tell me that they were out of cabbage and it was only 6p in the afternoon.
Overall: This place is just okay but nothing I could highly recommend. I recommend making more fresh food and don’t cut corners on the side items. The fish was cooked hard like I like it but not worth the price. I would suggest they really take the money they are making and put it back into the business to make themselves more attractive and profitable.
Now let’s talk about the food—the fried ribs are absolutely off the chain, and the dressing is next level. I find myself coming back every week just for that meal.
From a business owner in the hospitality industry, I confidently give this place a five-star rating. It’s easily one of the top establishments I’ve experienced.
Highly recommend !!! give it a try.
The Hamptons Event Venue
It’s getting 5 stars because the catfish was so good and the sides were all pretty good.
Overall, this place was pretty good soul food so I’d give it 8.2/10.
They told me the wait for the food was 14 minutes but it took 30 minutes and their phone lines didn’t go through so I couldn’t call ahead if I wanted to.
