The Waterman Fish Bar at Charlotte Douglas International Airport was a pleasant surprise. I am usually very careful about what I eat in airports but I saw someone else order the fish and it looked so good I had to try it. I am glad I did because the fish was freaking awesome.
It was cooked perfectly with great flavor and texture and did not feel like typical airport food at all. This is the kind of meal you would be happy with anywhere not just while killing time between flights.
The bartender also deserves credit because they made a great old fashioned. It was balanced and well made and not rushed which is rare in an airport setting.
Overall this place completely exceeded expectations. If you are flying through Charlotte and want a solid meal and a proper drink this spot is absolutely worth stopping for.

Sean was very professional and quick. One of the best waiters that I ever had. Didn’t have to wait long for things like, getting my order or being able to pay. He went above and beyond for service like grabbing barbecue sauce from a restaurant for me and asked if I wanted to have and gave me a to-go water with lime. The fries were like warm and needed a little more seasoning. However, the fries are a big serving size. The shrimp was flavorful in the taco. I wish the taco was a little bit on tangy.

This place certainly misaligns with my midwest sense of ethics. Two photos are attached…..one of my tablespoon of cole slaw served to me, and another of the menu entry for the “Fish and Chips”. Upon being served this “helping” of slaw I inquired of my waitress if this was de riguer for the portion allotment. She proceeded to inform me that the cole slaw was not meant to actually be EATEN, but was a garnish. I showed her the menu entry and asked how one would infer that they would not receive an edible portion from the menu. After her display of dismay, and after I waited for about 10 minutes to talk to some purported “manager” who was in absentia, she brought me an actual small bowl of slaw. She tells me to pay by scanning the damn polka dot mess on the table sticker which seems to me to be a huge nonsequitur when paying with cash. I could not get her to simply produce a chit after a 10 minute wait. I finally got up to leave and said I’d find somebody to take my money, and the whole scene devoled into a public display of animous extreme. I was told I was “having a bad day”….all I was having was the perspective that I should get the cole slaw I bought. This place would do the airport a favor by shutting down. All the food was decent as long as you are prepared for a good old fashioned airport shakedown.

️ Omg the Cajun Pasta! TO DIE FOR! I PROMISE u won’t be disappointed! The ladies were AMAZING! Megan (my awesome bartender), Adrianna, Bree and LeTisha aka ️BIG MOMMA (in a very eye pleasing way ♂️), made me laugh and you can tell they mesh well. Aimee has been here 19yrs! She was a delight! Next time I fly through here, I’m sliding through again!

Not the same quality as the southend location. Don’t waste your time/ money here. This is the lobster roll I received today. Terrible- would never order it from this location again. It had tiny pieces of lobster and a very tiny portion. Also, I placed the order using a QR code but had to ask multiple people where to wait/ pick up / even for my order after 30 minutes.

It is an airport so the atmosphere is just that expect that. The service was what I would expect didn’t go above and beyond but decent. I ordered the blackened shrimp tacos with fries. The fries could have been cooked a little longer for my liking but I like extra crispy fries and I did not ask for it so that was my fault. The seasoning on them was good but was not tossed enough to coat all the fries kind of looked like it was just shaken on top and not tossed to mix the seasoning on all the fries. The tacos in my opinion were absolutely delicious. Amazing flavor and decent sized. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a decent bite to eat

This restaurant it’s located at Concourse C at American Airlines. The food it’s great and the price it’s not bad for an airport. I ordered “ The Best Clam Chowder” and it’s true!! It’s the best, better than the one from SanFrancisco.

I absolutely make it a point to have my layovers in Charlotte just to come to the Waterman’s fish bar. It’s absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in all my travels. The food is great. Staff is awesome. No matter what gate I land in I always make sure I get to gate C 13 so I can get to Watermans.

I was nervous because of the reviews. I had the clam chowder which was very good and the fish and chips was yummy. Pleasantly surprised especially for airport food. My service was awesome as well. Super nice and attentive.

You seat yourself in this establishment only to be ignored by the server while you are patiently waiting to order your meal between connecting flights. I realized I was being ignored because there were other people that came after me and were being served before me. Make sure you keep your receipt and check against your credit card statement because “Leila” thought she deserved an additional $3 on top of the 20% tip that I generously left for her less than mediocre service. Hope your manager resolves this issue and reprimands you. All for 3 dollars…
