Absolutely great restaurant. The Little Gem Cafe had a great, cozy atmosphere with a dapper look. The dessert was delicious. We had the tiramisu and creme brulé. For my entire I had the monk fish which was a special and enjoyed it. For appetizers we had the calamari (couldn’t eat because allergy), the hummus and olive (my favorite) and some bread with cheese and figs if I recall correctly(?) which was also amazing. The drink menu was well crafted and offered a variety of specials. I would definitely return.

Love this Lil hidden Gem and the food is on point. Our waitress was the very best and extremely attentive. Love the decor, a real sweet spot tucked away in the cut.

Cute little whole in the wall, the service was impeccable, the food is to die for! Chef’s kiss!! I wanted Sangria, but they didn’t have it and my server whipped up something that tastes exactly like Sangria and I was surprised! Great suggestion from the server. We had the appetizers Calamari-cooked to perfection, and the crispy Eggplant with tomato, cheese and balsamic glaze that was amazing. The entrees we absolutely loooove were the cheese stuffed pork chop, roasted chicken, and beef braised ribs. It was all cooked to perfection, nothing left on our plates! Would absolutely go again!

Went with a group of girlfriends and we loved our time here! There was a great drink menu, and the food was delicious! I had the farro risotto, which was so creamy and flavorful. My friends enjoyed their dishes too! Would absolutely recommend this for a laid back catch up session with good friends, good food and good wine! I can’t wait to go back for date night next!!

Great place for a nice meal with the wife!
I had been to see these guys for lunch (killer burger, see photo) and knew that I wanted to get back in for dinner. They served me a burger good enough to warrant a return visit so I brought the wife in for their Monday/Wednesday dinner special on a Wednesday (live music scared us off of Monday night). They run an amazing date night special: $75 for a 3-course dinner for two, including a bottle of wine.
We aren’t really “wine people” so we asked the waiter to recommend a red wine based on our food order. There was a decent explanation behind the recommendation and it tasted fine but wine doesn’t really resonate with me so the name or description didn’t lodge itself sufficiently in my brain to make it into the review. Sorry about that.
We started with the brie crostinis. I like brie and I like bread so there’s just about no common configuration of those ingredients that won’t work for me. That said, these were delicious! I really enjoyed the chunk of fig and the drizzle of honey. The crostinis were toasted well without being dry while the brie was delightfully softened. I didn’t really like sharing them with the wife.
Next up was the entree course. We had one order of roasted chicken and the hangar steak. We split the entrees but I didn’t really develop a favorite. Both were pretty good but neither was life-changing.
For dessert we had their Godiva chocolate mousse. It was pretty good but also a bit on the pedestrian side.
The service was absolutely impeccable!

The Little Gem Cafe absolutely delivered. The prix fixe menu was incredible — I had the prime rib and it was hands down the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and generous. The cocktails were just as impressive — beautifully balanced and crafted with care.
It was nonstop busy, but the servers hustled and never missed a beat. Despite the packed room, we received excellent, attentive service the entire time. The owner was present and so gracious — warm, welcoming, and clearly invested in both the guests and the team. That kind of leadership shows.
At one point, a table nearby gave the staff a hard time because their payment methods weren’t working and they had to use the ATM. The team handled it professionally and kept things moving. Some people can be rude, but the staff stayed gracious and focused.
Overall, an amazing experience. Outstanding food, great cocktails, a genuinely kind owner, and a hardworking team. We’ll definitely be back.

Went for the v-day prix fixe, entree + salad + dessert was crazy good. Apps were ok. I think it’s hard to find a place with better atmosphere than this for a romantic Valentine’s dinner. If that’s valuable to you then this is definitely worth it. Desert came out kind of slow but forgivable given that we went on (probably) the busiest day of the year.

**NEIGHBORHOOD GEM ALERT**We a party of 12, the restaurant was ready when we arrived. We did not have to wait for the entire party to arrive, we were seated immediately as we arrived. The staff was very accommodating. The manager came over and introduced herself to us and welcomed us to the restaurant. The restaurant is intimate but festive. They have live entertainment on the weekend so that was nice. I recommend the braised short rib. No one complained about their food, but the prime rib needed to be cooked a bit more before it was enjoyable. All in all, it was a good time and I look forward to returning!

So we ate here once before, but quite some time ago. We didn’t have a reservation and it a Thursday evening with plenty of seating available. Service was good…nothing exceptional, but good. John was nice and polite…also the bartender. $14 for a sparingly spread of Brie and some figs with some honey on 4 small slices of common bread is pure profit for the restaurant. Skip
Plentiful hummus, but the ration of pita was incorrect. Sea bass was average and chopped salad with salmon was slightly above average. Skip the truffle fries…$14 and sitting in a mess of too much oil.
I’m going to sit this one out next time.

My husband and I have visited this charming spot twice—once for Valentine’s Day and again for our anniversary—and it’s quickly become one of our favorite restaurants in Oak Park. The orecchiette pasta is a standout favorite, and the braised short rib pasta is absolutely incredible! I also fell head over heels for their cappuccinos; they were so good, I’m now tempted to buy an espresso machine just to recreate them at home!
