We get inside and there are two men talking to the hostess. I assume they are guests but they are not. She shoos them off and greats us. She takes us to a table and then looks at us and says no let’s go to this other table. Odd but ok, why could I not sit where you originally wanted?
The room is unimpressive at best. Old chairs, carpet, no music, you could hear a pin drop. We were the youngest people there at 38 years old.
The server comes and tells my husband “hey buddy” which seems odd for a high end restaurant. There were no specials or a pick of the day type food just regular service like any other restaurant. We order and he reminds us of a $15 up charge for soup “just so we know” and laughs that the price is way too much. Again, odd behavior for “fine dining”.
The soup comes out and mine has spilled on the cheap paper doily and on the table. It was ok but Outback soup is better.
Our meal comes. There are two pieces of literal toast in a large basket. My husband had a steak and a baked potato. It wasn’t special in any way at all, just like it was cooked at home like home style meal. I had a beef kabob with baked potato.
I asked for my meat to be cooked well done. When the waiter brought it out, he said medium rare beef kabob. I looked at him and said, you mean well like I ordered? He laughed and said he was joking. He in fat was not.
When I addressed it he said he would talk to the kitchen that normally they overcook everything so he put it in for medium well he promised. He told us this multiple times no apology, no replacement, no refund, just excuses.
We left paying a $148 bill plus a $30 tip for possibly the worst service, atmosphere and food I have ever had.
I emailed the restaurant and the owner responded. We got a lip service type cheap apology saying that “wasn’t tolerated” and she had the audacity to say to come give them another try.
Nothing was done to make this right, why would go to a “high end” dinner with them again just to get the same food and atmosphere and unknown service.
We will just stick with our regular places going forward. And we were in and out of a “fine dining” restaurant in a record 34 minutes! We normally are at least 60 minutes to enjoy but not today!
We left and got appetizers and desserts somewhere else and it was amazing!
I will NEVER suggest this. It’s a cheap look, cheap server, and bad owners with mediocre food at best.
However, you are allowed to sit in the bar area in your urban/sneaker attire. As soon as we stepped into the bar area the bartender (middle-aged white man) loudly acknowledged us! Lol! He was very pleasant, personable and friendly!!!! Everyone we encountered (especially the bartender) was nice. The food was indeed good, but certainly pricey. I’ve eaten steak just as seasoned (if not more) from Longhorn’s for half the price.
The ambience was cozy and even though we weren’t dressed up, they still treated us kindly.
The bartender and owner even offered to buy my husband a shot of PATRON for his birthday…. He opted for the turtle something desert instead.
I would recommend and we likely will return.
Sad to say it was my first trip and certainly my last
I wondered why there was almost no one in the restaurant on Saturday night at around 6 PM and now I know
The calamari appetizer was like something out of a freezer bag from a economy store
The salads were brought on a small saucer. Almost no salad at all not to mention my wife’s was literally standing in ranch.
The steaks were cooked, medium, rare on one side and medium well on the other. Not to mention that they were not a very good quality… Oh, and they were 60 something dollars each.
The rolls were not as good as something that I would buy at the grocery store out of the freezer
Then our ticket was all wrong. They tried to charge me over $300. It ended up being $200
Not worth it, overpriced, quite simply a complete in total failure
I’ve decided to go to 360 Grill at the Marriott. I’ve never been disappointed there and do not get any pushback from the reservation, especially a month away from the date.
First the good… Alexis, our server was friendly, attentive, and very personable. Sadly this is the only highlight of our dining experience.
I ordered the Prime Rib, my wife ordered the Picanah. She asked for medium but ended up with half of the steak well done, and the other have about medium… not too terrible, but the texture of the meat was way off.. mushy and not good.
We sent it back, and she decided on the grilled chicken. We were informed that the back of the house agreed something was wrong with the Picanah and it shouldn’t have turned out that way.
There were a few other small things that normally would have been nuances, but given we were spending $140 for a meal, they just didn’t match the quality expected at a premium steak house.. Sour cream that appeared to have been frozen and thawed back out, dinner rolls that looked like they were torn in half on the bottom.. (pic added)
Having spent many years in the restaurant business I thought the restaurant may offer a dessert or even comp my wife’s meal, especially after admitting there was a problem with it…. NOPE, in fact the Picanah was still on the bill. We addressed Alexis, who apologized and went to fix it. She ended up taking $5 off the bill to reflect the difference between the Picanah and the chicken.
Would we go back? absolutely not. Was our server excellent? Most definitely.
The manager / owner… somebody should have addressed the issue and handled it like a quality steak house would.
The 5 stars for service are based solely on our interaction with Alexis.
Oh side note, my wife did enjoy the Greek salad
Your New Friend from ST. Thomas 🙂
Everything was 5 Star … Gold Star!!
This place has been around for as long as I can remember with the simple plan of selling great food with great service! Dining experience is private rooms.
