I haven’t had Salvadorian in a minute and was craving a good pupusa so I pulled up to Mi Tierra Pupuseria & Bakery.

As soon as you enter they have a good amount of seating. Plus you can see their selection baked goods.

I looked at the menu prior and had a sense of what I wanted.

I started with the Pastelito de Pina. First time ever hearing about this. It’s solid. The crust was sugar coated and unique. The pineapple filling was smooth with a sweet texture.

I mainly came to get the pupusas and try Salvadorian tamales. I got a bean & cheese pupusa and chicken tamale.

When I open up my pupusa, instant cheese pull. And it was pretty good. They provide some kind of slaw on the side. I put the slaw and some hot sauce on top…creating the PERFECT bite.

I tried some of my sisters shrimp pupusa. Personally I wouldn’t order that but it was tasty and flavorful.

I’ve never had a proper tamale so the chicken tamale was my first. The texture is really smooth and light. With seasoned shredded chicken all through out. For my first tamale, it was good.

I also tried the fried tamale and it was a whole different story. The exterior was crispy and dark in color. Inside it was sweet with a corn taste. I was like wow. They paired it with a white sauce that was really good. Making me think of sour cream and cream cheese in one.

We brought back a tres leches and flan home. The Tres leches was really good. It wasn’t soggy and held up well. The flan cake was good but the sugar juices on the bottom tasted burnt. Which was distasteful.

Service was okay. I felt like it could’ve been better. They weren’t disrespectful or anything. If our server was new or having a bad day my apologies.

Really good service very attentive. I had the pineapple juice for my drink 20oz. I got the pastelitos with 2 chicken and 1 with ground beef. I got the pupusa with chorizo and cheese (corn )and carne asada with cheese (rice). I also got the Salvadoran quesadilla which was really good and has sesame seeds on top. The only thing was the other person I was with said there was no chorizo in her pupusa so I would check it before eating and she ended up getting 2 pupusas of chicken and instead of one of chorizo and the other chicken.

We arrived at 11:30, and the lunch special runs from 11-2 pm. We sat down and ordered drinks. The drinks took over 30 minutes to come out, and when they did we were still missing a couple. The food took a while to come out as well, but it was pretty good. The service of this experience was one of the worst I have had. We were ready to leave by 1:55 waiting for our check. Rather than giving us the check after over 2 hours, our server waited 30 minutes and then rang in our food at 2:25. This way, the lunch special did not apply and our server would not change it. We told her we ordered by 11:45 and she did not fix it and then applied a tip of 18% for service that was worth no tip at all. As a server myself, I would expect to be stiffed if I had given that service. Food was great, but next time we will look for a different server.

The pupusas here were delicious. Originally being from New York, and Salvadorian I would highly recommend.

This is one of my favorite restaurants ever! The food is so good and so are the pastries they have on sale. I love the pupusas and also the Salvadoran breakfast dishes. I recommend trying them. As for the sweets, I love the quesadillas. The coffee is also amazing and the owners and staff are super nice. Overall great place and probably the best pupusas around. Not too greasy.

The food was good, I went with my boyfriend and my brother last week. We got baleadas, pupusas, and enchiladas. The horchata was different but it was good. We got the chicharron appetizer as well which was good

Update….ordered the $8.00 papas locas (lol very $$). Felt that the server did not wanted to be at work today (plus brought my papas when I was almost finished eating my dish).

Another visit, another great experience. Food still great. Staff is friendly and fast.

Great pupusa early in the morning. Staff is great and helpful.

They have great pupusas. I am vegetarian, so it is awesome to have the different pupusa options. I just wish that the servers would have interacted with us a bit more. That is how you will keep the customers and make a lot of tips. I will be back soon.
