Reviews
The food was outstanding. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and full of flavor, easily some of the best we’ve had. The appetizers and sides were just as impressive, and everything came out beautifully presented and timed perfectly. You can really tell the kitchen takes pride in every dish.
What truly made the night special was the service. The staff was attentive, professional, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. Even on a busy Valentine’s Day evening, we never felt rushed and were able to relax and enjoy the moment together.
The drinks, ambiance, and overall vibe made it a memorable night for both of us. RP Prime Steakhouse helped make our Valentine’s Day feel special, and we’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great steakhouse and a perfect date night spot.
Our last time here was 11/6/2021. It was our anniversary and my wife was 9 months pregnant, so we wanted to stay local, but go to a nice place. It was the perfect choice and it was incredible evening. We had an amazing anniversary dinner there….We brought our leftovers home, and were excited to enjoy them the next day until BOOM. My wife goes into labor on 11/7/21 the very next day. Long story short, our son was born and we NEVER got to finish our food. For years, we’ve joked that our son caused us to miss the best leftovers we’ve ever had lol. Finally, we got to come back on Valentine’s Day a few nights ago, and it was more incredible then even we remember. Perfect food, environment, and service. Thank you RP Prime, we’ll be back!
Dinner was outstanding—every dish was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. The service was just as impressive: attentive, professional, and genuinely friendly, which made the entire experience feel effortless. I had the Wednesday lobster special with oysters.
Consistently leaves us looking forward to the next visit. Truly one of the gems in Mahwah.
Our server was extremely odd and came off more disrespectful than funny. My husband ordered the truffle mac and cheese, while our friends ordered the lobster mac and cheese. My husband has a severe shellfish allergy and was accidentally served the wrong one. Thankfully we caught it, but when I asked the server to confirm which was which and asked if he was 100% sure, he responded with, “Don’t say 100%, only God is 100%. I’m 97% sure that’s the truffle mac,” and laughed.
It made me extremely uncomfortable. We were talking about a serious allergy, and instead of reassuring us professionally, he made it into a joke. My husband was honestly afraid to even try the dish after that.
Later, as the staff was clearing the table, a full glass of water was knocked onto our friend’s lap. Again, instead of apologizing, the server joked, “That’s good luck, we brought you good luck.” At that point, it just added to how uncomfortable the whole night felt.
To make matters worse, the manager only came over after we had already paid our $600 check to ask how things were and offered drinks or dessert but by then we were all ready to leave.
Overall, RP didn’t live up to the hype for us. The food was good, but the service completely ruined the experience. Save your money and go somewhere that values professionalism and properly trained staff.
