As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a young lady who let us know it was open seating. We picked a table and were promptly welcomed again, this time with menus and an offer for beverages. We both ordered water, which was served in charming mason jar glasses.
The menu is impressively extensive, with lots of options to suit any breakfast craving. I especially appreciated the creative eggs Benedict variations named after local cities—such a thoughtful and fun detail!
I went with the 138 omelette, packed with sausage, onions, cheddar, and I added some added peppers for a bit of extra flavor. It came with a side of thick, creamy grits that were absolutely delicious. We also ordered French toast, eggs over easy, and grilled ham. The French toast had wonderful flavor, the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the ham—thinly sliced and grilled to a nice brown.
Butter and syrup were easily accessible and both added to the already great flavors. Additionally, they accept Apple Pay, which made checkout quick and convenient.
All in all, this was a solid breakfast experience. The service was decent (I noticed one server) the food was great, and the atmosphere had that cozy, local charm. I’ll definitely be back.
The beef empanadas were ok but the chicken ones were nearly empty
Food- The Tostonadas I saw on the Google pictures where meat inside of a cupped tostone. They were served to me separately in which I like better because there was more food for the $13.50 price. The skirt steak had good seasoning, but was a bad choice of meat selection-chewy and many parts were inedible. The burger with egg and avocado was decent, but I took off the cheese, which I’m sure made it more regular. I didn’t eat the bottom bun as the burger was good without it.
The Mofongo had a cream sauce on it that I didn’t like or didn’t see on the menu as a dairy item or I would have put it on the side. The Mofongo is plain and needs more seasoning or a more seasoned savory sauce on top of the mofongo instead of the white creamy sauce. Yucca fries delicious. Plantains overcooked. Tostones need more salt. Goat was a great choice to see on the menu along with beef stew, oxtails, and other fun food. the goat taste like it was seasoned with oxtail seasoning. Cabbage taste fermented, or vinegar. the steak on the side of the Mofongo seem to taste better than the Tosonadas with steak. a few basic salads they had with not many green leafy vegetables, but I feel that someone could find something on their menu they like and be satisfied.
The breakfast was really great. The grits looked stiff, but they were good. Grits should come with some of the plated options but they keep it separate so you can add on an additional side. Pancakes were a bit thick but fine. Love their quality hard back printed menu-it’s beautiful.
Just Say’in
My wife and I just had breakfast here and let me tell you, it was incredible.
The Coffee was great, which is saying something. I’m a huge coffee drinker and it is absolutely nearly impossible to get a decent cup of coffee anywhere.
Service was great, they were quick and very attentive to everyone. They’re a very friendly staff that makes you feel like they’re family.
What truly stuck out to me was the fact that they cooked my wife’s eggs perfectly. You would think it would be easy to cook over easy eggs without the whites being runny, but you’d be surprised how many times we’ve had to send them back. Angie’s did it right, the first time. Bravo
If you love/like pancakes, you absolutely have to try the corn pancakes! All I can say is, OMG
I’ll have to try to learn how to replicate that recipe !!!!
And the grits were absolutely perfect.
Then the check came, I’m thinking $50 for all the food we had ordered (I like to try a sampling of the menu)
Nope, cheaper than waffle house.
Next time we’re coming for Dinner.
Thank you to the Owner and Staff for an amazing experience.
