Reviews
I ordered the salmon fajitas, which were delicious and flavorful, though the salmon was slightly overcooked. Despite that, the meal was high-quality. The service was a standout—incredibly friendly and very accommodating to our large group. They were gracious enough to split the check individually, which made receipt accountability for our business expenses seamless.
I’d recommend appropriate dress attire to match the upscale environment. It is definitely a professional-leaning spot where you can feel comfortable getting deals done.
For my meal I had a Birria Taco, a Carne Asada Taco and the Shrimp Ceviche. The Birria Taco was one of the best ones I have ever had. The flavor was fantastic and I wish I would have gotten more of them. The Carne Asada taco was good as well. The Ceviche was awesome. The flavors were really bright and the shrimp was fresh.
What really makes La Nena Cantina special is the way they take classic Mexican flavors seriously but present them in a modern, elevated way. Their handmade tortillas show up everywhere and you’ll find richly crafted dishes like a mole poblano made with 40+ ingredients and slowly simmered from scratch, or a mole negro from Oaxaca with a smoky depth — these are flavors you don’t often find in a high-style cantina. Tacos dominate the menu in the best way: think slow-cooked pork belly, ceviche selections, a Baja fish taco on blue-corn handmade tortilla with chipotle mayo, crisp cabbage and fresh pico de gallo. There are vegan options too, executed with real care rather than just check-boxes.
The bar is no after-thought either. Full of mezcal and tequila choices, with cocktails like the “Adelita” featuring pineapple, cucumber and fresh lime that pair beautifully with the spicy or rich plates. Whether you’re going in for an early-evening drink, weekend brunch or full dinner, it works. For starters the tableside guacamole made fresh is a smart move, and sharing the five-taco tasting is a fun way to explore. The service and energy reflect the neighbourhood well — polished but relaxed, with a patina of Hollywood glamour that doesn’t feel stuffy.
In short if you’re in Los Angeles and want a spot that brings both authenticity and design, La Nena Cantina checks the boxes.
La Nena Cantina wraps you in a vibrant, stylish atmosphere that instantly lifts your mood. The decor is modern yet warm — think sleek wood accents, colorful tile work, and soft lighting that creates the perfect balance of lively and intimate. The vibe is electric but never overwhelming, making it ideal for date nights, celebrations, or just a fun evening out with friends.
The service was outstanding — attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the food. Our server guided us through the menu with enthusiasm and made spot-on recommendations.
We started with the guacamole prepared tableside, and wow — what a show! Fresh avocados mashed to order with just the right kick of lime, cilantro, and jalapeño. It set the tone for an unforgettable meal.
The margaritas were perfection: smoothly blended, without chunks of crushed ice, bright, tart, and perfectly balanced — no cloying sweetness, just pure tequila, lime, and a salted rim that sang with every sip.
For mains, the ribeye tacos were a revelation — tender, juicy steak wrapped in warm tortillas with onion, cilantro, and a smoky salsa that tied it all together. The mixed fajitas (steak + chicken) arrived sizzling, packed with flavor, and generously portioned. Every bite was bold, fresh, and deeply satisfying.
La Nena Cantina nails authentic Mexican flavors with a modern twist, all served in a space that feels like a celebration. We’re already planning our next visit to explore more of the menu — and you should too. Highly recommended!
