This restaurant is so delightful. I enjoyed my time dining here. From the moment we stepped inside, we are greeted warmly by the owner. The food are so amazing and tasty. Their butter chicken with garlic naan is the best! I highly recommend this place when you visit Kaikoura.

Really nice India food. After travelling in NZ for 15 days, we were craving Indian food and we were very satisfied with our meal. The paneer chilly was outstanding!

The dal tadka tasted so gppd along with cheese and garlic naan. Loved the meal! Staff was also very nice and polite and helped us with what to order

The food was amazing! Had the Palak Paneer and the Paneer Butter Massala. They make their own cottage cheese in house which makes the dishes very creamy and full of taste. Naan bread and rice were great too. I suggest to have 1 portion of the turmeric rice for 2 persons, and 2 portions of naan bread. Enjoy!

Went here for dinner with my partner when we visited Kaikōura. Good Indian place with decent food. Loved the vegetable samosas!

Service was friendly and quick, atmosphere can be elevated a bit to make the restaurant feel more comfortable.

Get there early as it fills up – we were missing an Indian and ordered butter chicken ( Indian spicy for him) he thought it wasn’t spicy but I could taste the heat , I had mango chicken and an aloo paratha ( we don’t he mango chicken in UK ) it was mild , sweet and delicious , the fish bites for starters were not spicy and delicious and delicately flavoured – we paired with Vicars Choice pinot Gris that was perfect – thanks so much best meal for a long time here in NZ- also the owner was work g there and so friendly and helpful as well

Banging! Look, we can be quite discerning Indian-restaurant connoisseurs, used to the restaurants in the Middle East and the UK and can honestly say this place is really very good.

The wine selection was predictably good, using the nearby Marlborough region as its anchor. We had the Vicar’s Choice (no off-colour jokes please) Pinot -Gris and it was delicious. While quaffing on that, we ordered our food….

Wifey had Lamb Methi, and while it had the flavours you’d expect, the vibrancy was missing; not bad but could have been a lot better. I ordered the usual Lamb Vindaloo and explained that it would likely need extra chillies on the side. These were duly provided from the freezer (of all places) but really added to my experience, so a big well done there. It was absolutely delicious; a good rich sauce, decent hunks of nicely-cooked lamb, bordering on the sublime when I added the chopped chillies for that extra bang.

The naan bread gets its own paragraph as it was really well-made, dripping with gorgeous ghee and a super balance between cooked and charred; I ate the lot.

I didn’t order the biryani, but would love to have done so. It comes with Raita, but unlike UK and Middle Eastern versions, without a vegetable curry side….a consideration perhaps?

The critical question….would I come again? Well, yes, I think we would; there are lots of other nice otpions to try – esp the chef’s recommendations. The place has most of the attributes we’d expect of an Indian restaurant in a UK-setting with 40 years more experience. So keep doing what you are doing and don’t change your Vindaloo !

We were on our way to Picton and were looking for dinner options on our way. Found this Indian restaurant with great reviews and thought of trying it. We were not disappointed and the reviews does the justice. Food was good and tasty. Owner is a very friendly person and we had good chat. Highly recommended to anyone living or visiting the town to give it a try.

I visited today and the service was excellent. The food came within minutes and was great.
I ate the Paneer Tikka Masala with Garlic Naan. The paneer was nice and soft, the sauce rich and full of flavor. The Naan had crispy parts and soft ones aswell which made it a very pleasant experience to eat.
Thank you for such a splendid meal. 🙂

Wow! We just had the best Indian food meal in all of New Zealand! Just a short and pleasant walk from the main downtown shopping area finds you at this delightful Indian restaurant. The server was gracious, friendly and welcoming as was the owner who came out to welcome us and the chef!
I am a vegetarian and had the palak paneer which was amazing and my husband had prawn pepper masala which he absolutely loved! The samosa appetizer was delicious too.
Everything about this gem of a restaurant was wonderful. It’s our last night in New Zealand and we were happy to celebrate our last night here where the food was fantastic and we were treated like old friends.
