The food here is mind-blowing—especially for anyone who has memories of India and misses those authentic flavors. Whether it’s Indian, Indo-Chinese, or Nepalese dishes, New Gurkha delivers the real taste you remember. For example, if you’ve ever had Chinese fried rice in India, you will find the exact same flavour here. It’s unbelievable how authentic and delicious it is!
And for those craving an Indian beer like Kingfisher or Taj—yes, they have it! It’s the perfect touch.
I actually live in Vancouver, British Columbia, but every time I come to Edmonton, this is my go-to spot. New Gurkha never disappoints, and it truly feels like a taste of home.
Highly, highly recommended!
We ordered way too much for 2 people, but we wanted to try different items to have a more full impression of their Nepali food.
Given a papad to start with a delicious green sauce with some heat.
The fish pakoras were delicious. A big plate full. Lots of fish. Nice spice. Use the garnishes with it because the raw onion makes the flavor pop.
The steamed chicken veggie momos were on point and the sauce was like being in Nepal.
I thought I snapped a pic of our daal baat but I guess I forgot. Delicious!! The rice was abundant. We ordered a naan and it was light, stretchy and perfect for grabbing the daal baat.
We left with many leftovers. We could’ve easily fed 4 people with what we ordered and it would’ve been less than $20 a person.
We’ll definitely be back and will recommend.
Special shoutout to saru at the counter — super friendly and efficient. She made sure everything was just the way I wanted, and her positive attitude made the whole experience even better.
Will definitely be coming back again!
Had good variety in menu for appetizers/ shareables and Meals. Also have good options for vegetarians.
Loved it and definitely coming back with family.
Server was very polite and helpful too.
