Absolutely delicious! The sushi was prepared right in front of us to absolute perfection. The chef’s were so friendly and I loved watching them make everyone’s orders. The lighting and ambiance is nice and romantic. A little loud with the attached hibachi tables but nonetheless a great time.

The restaurant is very clean. The food is delicious. The service attitude is very friendly. The price is more cost-effective than Japanese restaurants in Waikiki and the city center. The price is acceptable. It is suitable for family gatherings and parties. It is also a good choice for a dinner after work. The beef is juicy. The sea urchin sushi and wagyu sushi are worth trying again. It is my favorite restaurant!

I went on a Sunday night and it was PACKED. If you don’t beat the rush or make some sort of reservation be prepared to wait. It’s a very popular place both for hibachi and it’s sushi. The Sushi was great everything tasted fresh. Their bento boxes are also good with large servings.

We truly love Kizuna and have always had great experiences here, which is why this review is a bit disappointing to write. Unfortunately, our visit the other night really missed the mark on service.

On Friday night, my husband and I stopped by around 9:02 pm hoping to grab a beer and share a couple of sushi rolls. Online and on the door, the restaurant is listed as open until 10 pm. When we walked in, there were still several people seated and actively eating. I asked at the front if they were open until 10, and the hostess looked around and said the last seating was at 9 pm. While I understand last seating policies, it was literally two minutes past, and there were clearly guests still dining.

After some back and forth, we were seated—though it felt very begrudging. Our waiter was kind and professional, but it was obvious we were being rushed. We understood the situation and made sure to order immediately and eat quickly. We were completely finished and ready to leave by 9:32 pm.

Before leaving, my husband asked to use the restroom and was met with eye rolls and attitude because staff had already started cleaning. That was honestly the most disappointing part—we were paying customers, had already finished our meal quickly out of courtesy, and were still well before the posted closing time.

If the true cutoff is 9 pm, that’s totally fine—but the hours should reflect that. The experience left us feeling unwelcome, which was surprising given how much we usually enjoy Kizuna.

We’ll still be back because the food is great, but we hope the service and communication around closing hours improves.

I came to try this sushi place after hearing good things about it from a friend, and I’m really glad I did. The sashimi was very fresh, and the service was excellent — friendly and attentive without being overbearing. In today’s climate of rising prices, I also really appreciate that their prices are quite reasonable and not overly expensive. Overall, a great dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!

We got sashimi and sushi and a special roll. Rice in our special roll was mushy, tempura shrimp in the roll was also cold. The best were the sashimi (but then again you can’t really mess up a cut of fish). The rice for nigiri was kind of cold (should be body temp), and missing the vinegar tang and slight sweetness. Also the shrimp nigiri looked rubbery.

The edemame we got was hard, like they were overcooked.

For the “sushi” it’s average to below average. Similar to supermarket sushi. Didn’t try anything from the grill.

Service was good. Very busy but they were attentive to us. Even though this place has Japanese cuisine, the place is run by Chinese.

I expect when I eat out to be treated to food better than supermarket. The food quality did not meet my expectations hence the overall rating for the restaurant.

The price was ok. For two we came out about $100 with tax+tip.

We really loved this place! Very clean and organized, didn’t need to wait long. We were impressed with the freshness of vegetables and meats. The food was prepared nicely without too much salt. I really liked the shrimp! Lots of families with kids having a great time earlier in the evening. Looking forward to coming back.

Kizuna has become a favorite restaurant for us in Kailua. The sushi and hibachi are always excellent, prices reasonable, the staff is fantastic, and Ken is hands down the best hibachi chef ever. My kids ask for him every time. Hibachi can feel predictable, but he makes it a blast. So grateful to have this spot in our town!

Ordered lunch online, order was ready faster than it was scheduled! I got the spicy volcano roll – which comes deep fried, I think they waited until I arrived to deep fry it so it was hot and fresh! Love the Kaneohe location so I’m glad they opened one in Kailua!

Went on a Thursday and was told we weren’t able to order off lunch specials during lunch.

Why? Im not sure why.

Anyway.. service was great and attentive. Friendly staff and food comes relatively quick.

Will try teppan side next time.
