An Nam at Harvard

  4.4 – 63 reviews   • Vietnamese restaurant

The flavors of Vietnam are fresh and light; featuring herbs such as basil, mint, lemongrass, and coriander/cilantro. Alongside them are the common ingredients of seafood, rice noodles, vegetables, and lime. With the combination of these flavors and ingredients, the Vietnamese cuisine contains a brilliant balance of aromatics, heat, sweetness, sourness, and savoriness.

I was craving pho so we decided to try An Nam. We had been to the Assembly Row location and weren’t big fans, but thought this one might be different.

The restaurant was pretty empty during Friday dinner. We tried ordering two different shrimp-based appetizers but they were both not being offered. We got the shrimp and pork fried wontons instead. These were the best thing we had. Packed with meat.

The pho was quite bad. The broth had little flavor and there weren’t many noodles. I also didn’t really like the clay pot catfish.

I wouldn’t come back. Le’s is a better choice for Vietnamese in Harvard Square.

An Nam is a great addition to Harvard Square. We ordered the shrimp spring rolls, chicken rice plate, beef vermicelli, and salmon clay pot. Everything was delicious! Great portions and very fresh vegetables. The service was excellent, the waiters were super friendly and helpful.

We were very impressed with everything we got! The rice plates had generous portions and the chicken was tender with fantastic lemongrass flavor. The Vietnamese iced coffee was the best we’ve had in the camberville area. We also tried the pho and it was very good.

The menu has quite the selection of soups, appetizers, rice and noodle plates, and platters, and it seems like you can’t go wrong with anything you order here We’ll definitely be back soon to try one of the special platters and the Bo kho (beef stew).

Yummy pork vermicelli and Vietnamese coffee! They could use a bit more fish sauce in the vermicelli bowl, if any. Very friendly and attentive staff. The restaurant is hidden in a building so you won’t see the storefront on the street. Will come back to try more stuff!

Really delicious food and nice service. We got the specialty large platter and rice rolls, as well as the Vietnamese iced coffee and passion fruit lemon tea. The tea had real fruit in it. Everything was great and it was more than enough food for two people.

Food is amazing!! Everything we tried was delicious, including the drinks! The service was great as well, everyone was super nice and attentive. If I am ever in Boston again I would 100% come back (we ordered the beef pho, cha gio, pork vermicelli, and the fresh and salted limeades)

Clean, new restaurant just off Harvard Square. We only had the tofu spring roll appetizers but they were huge, tasty and freshly made. Will come back for more!

What a fantastic Vietnamese restaurant!!! The location is tucked into the galleria in harvard square, you can go right in off Winthrop street or JFK. Easy and cheap parking under the hotel across from Charlie’s kitchen. We had the pork belly clay pot and the pork belly brothless noodles and they were amazing. Noodles were perfect consistency, the pork was incredible – very nice heat level (I ordered spicy) without being overpoweringly hot.
We had the salted lime soda which was delicious. Salty and sprite-y. Currently loving the sweet potato cheesecake that we got to go.
For apps we had the chao tom/shrimp paste. These were nice and bouncy and full of flavor, and the banh khot crispy shrimp cakes were just as great. The turmeric rice cake that the shrimp was sitting on was sooooo nice, almost curry-like. This was a new dish to me and I am a huge fan.
The service was so friendly and fast, and you’re surrounded by beautiful hand-drawn/painted charcoal drawings on the wall. They’re gorgeous, whoever made those, bravo!
An Nam was so easy to get to and had such a great atmosphere and amazing food at a very good price. Can’t wait to go back and try more dishes!

Not too busy on Monday. We had the wonton noodle soup and the An Nam brothless noodle and extremely liked it. The waitress was really caring and nice.

Took my money on a pickup order, texted me and told me my food was ready, and when I walked there to pick up the food they were closed and the only person working in the kitchen couldn’t help me with a refund and told me they would have to email the owner. I just want my money back. What a bad experience
