**This is our second time visiting Xecora Gastronomía Urbana. We hadn’t gone back because the first time the service was really bad — we waited a long time to be helped, and when the waitress finally came, her attitude was terrible. The same thing with the hostess and the cashier, as if it was contagious… It was such a bad experience that we weren’t planning to return.
But we were in the area and decided to give it another chance. This time, the service was better — nothing like our first visit.
The food, though, is on a whole different level. Everything you order is delicious. This time we tried the San Pedro–style chicken fajitas, and we 100% recommend them.**

It’s a pretty place but it was stuffy in there. I asked the server if the a/c was on and he said he’d turn it on. I think it kicked on right before we left. Our empty plates sat on the table until we left, we had to ask for more water, the paper napkins are low quality. My beans were salty. The tortillas were wrapped in parchment paper so they got cold. The carne asada was very tender and the salsas are actually spicy. My cocktail was good. My friends enjoyed their food and drinks.

So it didn’t want to go to a traditional mariscos place with loud banda music and everybody wanting to be a narco.lol. I came to this beautiful place that offered some very delicious food and very well crafted drinks. I had the shrimp mojo the ajo with beans, rice, hand made tortillas. It was good! My mom had the grilled octopus and she couldn’t stop talking about it. My dad had the trio tacos and loved the marlin taco. My parents are the pickiest eaters and they became fans. I like the modern flare of the place and music was different but fit the place. Will definitely do again. Heard they have another spot in Downey with mariachi on Sundays. That will be my next review. Come to this place. It’s 5 stars all around.

Food was great, perfect actually. But we went on a Thursday afternoon and it was empty so we sat pretty quickly. We were served a side of complimentary chips and salsa which we devoured instantly waiting for our food. We ordered the chargrilled octopus, the taco trio, and the oysters. The only one complaint we have would be the speed of service. Whenever we requested something it would take a couple minutes for it to get to us. There were only three actives when we dined in along with some whom were sat at the bar area. When we were ready to pay out, it was difficult to wave down a server to check us out. But overall the experience wasn’t too bad because weren’t in a rush.

This is a little hidden gem in El Monte. Everything is great, don’t understand why more people aren’t here. I love the shrimp turnovers. The drinks are very good also. Stop by for happy hour 3-7 Monday through Friday, can’t go wrong.

Looking fir a new place to eat.
Wanted GOOD Mexican food.
This was beyond my expectations.
Homemade dishes in a great atmosphere. AND they have a bar. They offer live entertainment on various days.

Came to Xécora Gastronomía Urbana for lunch with a friend, and we left seriously impressed. First off, shoutout to our server Lupita—she was warm, attentive, and gave great recommendations. The complimentary chips with roasted salsa were a strong start, but Lupita also brought us a red spicy salsa that packed serious heat in the best way.
We started with the ceviche de pescado, and both of us agreed—it’s easily one of the best ceviches we’ve had anywhere. Super fresh, well-balanced, and full of flavor.
We also tried the pozole, which was comforting and well-seasoned, but the real standout was the charbroiled octopus. It was grilled perfectly with just the right texture—tender with a bit of crisp char. Absolutely mind-blowing.
The space inside is cozy and stylish, with plenty of TVs that make it feel like a great spot for game nights. Bonus: they’ve got happy hour Monday through Friday from 3–6pm.
We’re already planning to come back and explore more of the menu. Highly recommend this place.
