Eh. Dont see the appeal to this place. Space is tired and dingy. Menu has some great options but none executed well. Got the meatloaf. It was grilled which is a nice touch, but it was very dry. Drinks were no good, especially the espresso martini. Tastes like it was out of a can and was very sweet. Bread pudding is a no go. Service was meh, especially for prices charged.

Absolutely amazing food and space! We ordered the Mushroom Ravioli and the Den Burger to share. By god it was probably the best burger I have had in 2025!

Absolutely loved eating here with my family. The food is fabulous, flavorful, and gorgeous in its presentation. They were so great with my 16-month-old daughter and brought over a booster seat and high chair to ensure we had options for my daughter to sit in. This place was hopping during the day and evening even during a busy work week. It is the perfect place to eat! We are huge fans of the duck, fries, and fish.

The Den was good. We got the French dip which was loaded with meat, the house made chips were not good. Way too overcooked. the salmon with rice was the best. The rice was honestly my favorite part of the meal. Atmosphere is inviting and our server was nice.

I really enjoy the den, I’ve never had a bad meal here! However, the last time I attempted to dine, i had a reservation, was sat very close to the time it was for (which was awesome because they were slammed). Sadly tho I sat for 20 minutes without a single staff member checking up on us, not even to bring waters or take a drink menu so we ended up leaving. I understand staff gets busy but it’s pretty disheartening to not be waited on (especially when you see staff standing around). Other than that experience, would recommend!

I haven’t been here since 2022 and I was really excited to bring my friends to The Den when I revisited the Upper Peninsula. The service was fine and our waitress was very sweet and friendly! The atmosphere had the same charm it did even two years later! As for the food, I was really disappointed with the quality of the Entrees… I remember the steak being thicker with a delicious burned sear to it, but the steak and mashed potatoes were lacking flavor this time. The most palatable item on my plate was the asparagus the entree was served with. Besides the entrees, the appetizers and blueberry cheesecake were delicious!

So many things on the menu I wanted to try. I went with the French dip but got it plain. Bread was soft and meat was very flavorful. Fries were crispy and hot. Can’t wait to come back!

I had been traveling in search or real fresh food with some green vegetables. They served me an amazing dish with salmon and asparagus. Not only that, I have a service dog and they sat me in the patio and brought my dog a small container with water! Just awesome! I will definitely be back here and I encourage others to come have a delicious meal.

We visited a few restaurants during our stay in Houghton, MI, and I have to say that The DEN was the best. There are many dishes away from the mainstream, which is a very pleasant change from the otherwise rather monotonous American mishmash.

I cannot recommend this place enough. I suggest it to everyone I can. My husband and I have been going here for a few years now as our go-to dinner date spot. I have never been disappointed out of the many times we’ve come here. The steak is PHENOMENAL (my all-time fave) but I also highly recommend the beast burger and the meatloaf. The mixed drinks are amazing and I’ve tried a variety of their wines – every single one was fantastic. Always take advantage of their specials too, the chef manages to whip up the tastiest things like the rack of elk in one of the attached pictures and the wontons. We have also never once had a bad server. The bartenders and waitresses/waiters are excellent and provide great service even when they’re super busy. This is, in my opinion, the best restaurant in the area!
