If you’re looking for an authentic, Vietnamese bánh mì spot, Bánh Mì Cô Út absolutely delivers. The bánh mì hits all the right notes: light, crispy bread, well-seasoned proteins, fresh pickled veggies, and that perfect balance of savory, tangy, and crunchy in every bite and all made in-house. Nothing feels overdone, just clean and traditional flavors done right.

Portions are generous for the price, and you can tell this is the kind of place that focuses on consistency and quality rather than trends. Service is quick and efficient, making it a great grab-and-go spot, especially if you’re nearby and craving something satisfying without the wait.

It’s easy to see why locals keep coming back. Simple menu, authentic execution, affordable prices, and food that speaks for itself. One of those spots you’re glad hasn’t changed. Definitely worth a visit if you love a proper bánh mì.

The fried tofu banh mi was amazing and incredibly fresh. The bread is made in house and tastes excellent, light and crisp. The tofu filling is simple but very well done. Staff had a great attitude, the Vietnamese coffee was lovely, and note that this place is cash only.

This banh mi shop is known to be one of the best in NYC and also is the only (that I’m aware of) to bake their bread in-house! They have a variety of different filling options but I got their special when I went. It was delicious. The bread was crispy and flaky on the outside and perfect soft on the side. They also weren’t skimping on filling, pate, or any veggies. Absolutely delicious and I would come back. And, remember to bring cash as they are cash only!

This is their second location. It’s a grab and go kind of place. I really love the 5-spice banh mi. It’s warm and flavorful, well marinated with a good portion of meat. The original #1 is also good. The bread is not too hard or crumbly like in other places. No bathroom, hole in the wall place.

Edit: I really like their new sandwich pork sausage lap xuong tuoi

Stopped by to pick up some banh mis on the Sunday of LDW at around noon. I had tried the other location a while back and remember liking it, so we decided to check this one out since we were in the area. I usually get the special but I saw that they have grilled sausage here (which is hard to find), so I knew I had to try that out. It’s supposed to come with peanut sauce but since we were going to eat it later, I asked for it on the side and they said they don’t have any containers. So strange. So I decided to get the sandwich without it because I didn’t want it to be soggy. The sausage was really good but I was there was more of it. The sandwich was mostly veggies. Hubbie did get the special, and they don’t skimp on the meat for that one. I would probably just stick to the special next time for that reason.

Tip – cash only

CASH ONLY – unless you order online for pick up.

The quality from this place is just as good as their first location. It was so tasty, I should have bought two!

I got one of their “Special” banh mi. The bread stayed fresh and still had a crispy crust even an hour later when I got home to eat (the subway was delayed during peak hours).

*** TIP: If you want to have the pickled veg and cilantro on the side, order the banh mi you want“for tomorrow.” This is great when ordering multiple to enjoy later in the day or the following day(s).

Also if you didn’t know, they also have a restaurant called Kitchen Co Ut. Show it some love too!

Can’t beat the price and quality here. The bread is as close to the real thing as you can get. Everything is homemade and for $8-10 a sandwich, it’s the best deal you’ll get in Manhattan. My go-to banh mi spot in the city.

This spot is a hidden gem in the heart of Chinatown. The banh mi sandwiches here are seriously impressive.

The bread is baked fresh daily and makes all the difference—crispy on the outside, soft and warm inside. It’s the kind of bread that elevates every bite.

The ingredients are super fresh and well balanced. From the pickled vegetables to the flavorful meats and herbs, everything tastes thoughtfully prepared. The classic cold cut combo with pâté is especially good.

Prices are very affordable, especially for the quality you’re getting. Most sandwiches are under $10, which is a great deal for fresh, satisfying food in Manhattan.

It’s a small space with quick, efficient service. Perfect for a grab-and-go lunch or a quick bite on the run.

Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese banh mi that won’t break the bank. Will definitely be back.

This was my first time visiting Bánh Mì Cô Út 2. My friend is hesitant about trying new places, but I managed to persuade her to give it a go. Usually, she buys multiple Bánh Mì for her family, but before doing so, she ordered one to taste at the shop to assess its quality. She was impressed by the freshly baked bread and found the Bánh Mì delicious. We then ordered six more Bánh Mì to take away, and my favorite was #8, which was especially tasty. I plan to return next time I visit Chinatown.
