The place hasn’t changed in (literal) years. It’s great, you know exactly what you’re getting. Quick service, affordable prices, and a lovely full belly!!
I do recommend their fruit juice blend of everything
We were told we could not move as all other tables were booked. At that moment nine tables were vacant. So I insisted we be seated away from service, toilet and exit areas as the booking was taken on that basis. We were begrudgingly given a table away from the door and kitchen area. However, the manager insisted she have the table back by six pm as the restaurant was fully booked by the. At 6pm their were eight vacant tables and no sign of the 48 people required to fill those tables. By 6:10pm there was no sign of those people. So how could that be fully booked.
Questions arising is 1) why were staff so aggressive and rude. 2) if the restaurant was fully booked at 6pm, why were 8 tables vacant at that time.
Its also worth noting that the restaurant feels delapitated with torn seats and dirty floors and windows. The toilets too were not maintained and were not very clean.
Its hard to understand why a restaurant that once had better standards of service and good quality food has declined to such and is just a shadow of its ancestor, Buddies!
So, if you want a quick meal in a friendly environment this reataurant is not. I repeat not the place to go.
Why? Staff are rude, economic with the truth, the premises is rundown and cold and the food mediocre.
Just a word of advice to the manager on duty. Do not deny the failures of other colleagues. You represent the business and are responsible for the mistakes of others. An apology would have been nice. Best to remember the old adage “the customer is always right”
You have lost 2 regular customers who have visited many times over the years … but no longer.
To finish, I had their pancakes, which were thick, fluffy, and delightfully light despite their size. They were a perfect sweet ending to an already fantastic meal, showing the same care and quality that went into the burger.
The atmosphere at 81 Hamburger Heaven is lively and welcoming, making it a great spot for friends, family, or even a casual solo visit. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. With standout dishes like the Blues Brothers burger and the heavenly pancakes, this spot truly lives up to its name and is a must-visit for anyone in Northampton craving comfort food done exceptionally well.
The entrance and decorations definitely took my attention, it really gave “American sitcom set” vibes.
The only disappointing factor for me was the wait for the food, Amber, a lovely nice waiter at the place, looked after us as soon as we got sat, we had drinks in within 3 minutes but I didn’t see the food until like 35 minutes later; almost finished my drink by then lol.
Given the wait I hoped for the food to be grandiose.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t but it was still nice food, just some dryness in terms of the salad and burger.
Other than the odd wait the experience was nice, the food was nice and the staff were also nice but definitely a shoutout to Amber, she was warm, kind and nice!
I only gave stars for food however the only disappointing thing was that the hot chocolate was made with water instead of milk
We used to live in Northampton and Buddies diners were one of our favourite casual diners. We thought they had all gone but no, this is Buddies by a new name.
Amazing menu, great food and friendly service in a great atmosphere, in all but name it is Buddies!!
Best Nachos this side of the atlantic
