Such a hidden gem. Super friendly owner and cute small sushi bar… like really small, but in a good way, with character. So better to have a reservation when showing up, otherwise you might be without luck. The quality is tremendous, so far the best sushi I had. The cook is preparing the meals authentic and knows what he is doing. We’ll come back for sure. Thanks for the great dinner experience for a very fair price, we enjoyed it very much.

The owner is super nice, friendly, easygoing and talkative. Sushi is delicious and definitely worth the price. The quality and taste of fish are pretty high. There’re limited space so do remember to make a reservation ahead. Takeaway is only possible after checking with the owner and it might take some time. Will definitely come back again when we visit Hamburg next time.

Best sushi in Hamburg! Actually best sushi in my life! The texture of the rice is so perfect and the soya sauce is also good. The chef is also very friendly and like to chat with customers. The restaurant is very small , so usually you need to make a reservation before you go!

I’ve visited three times now and it’s been great each time! It’s a small but cosy place, and because of the limited amount of seats it doesn’t feel too crowded. The owner and the waitress are very friendly and attentive. The sushi is freshly prepared in front of you and served very quickly. I think it’s the best sushi I’ve eaten in my life so far, it’s definitely worth the money. There are other good sushi places in Hamburg, but this one is on another level. Expect to pay around 50 EUR per person for food and drinks if you really want to get the “full experience”.

Amazing, authentic sushi for a reasonable price. Super friendly staff. It would cost twice for the same quality in different places. The variety of sushi is a bit limited but the quality of each piece is absolutely satisfying. Be careful, capacity is only up to 6 people. Reservation (by email) mandatory

had a wonderful time at this little cozy japanese restaurant serving freshly made sushi that was authentic and insanely delicious! the chef and the server were both extremely welcoming and friendly, we were even treated to a complimentary torched salmon nigiri! we enjoyed the sushi box special and the salmon maki. make sure to book in advance as there is a limited number of seats!

When we were visiting Hamburg, we wanted to get sushi and Kampai was the TOP peoples’ choice. Everyone’s review about the sushi is great. This place serves the BEST sushi in the city or even country. I am a sushi fan and I’ve eaten it in so many places(countries), but nothing like this. Here is what you need to know about Kampai Sushi Bar:
1. Location may not be attractive, but trust me it’s worth the visit! There is a metro nearby.
2. Do email them before going. Make your reservation a day or so ahead, otherwise you may not get a seat, because there are only 6 seats inside which are available upon reservation only.
3. Prices are affordable and worth every penny
4. Friendliest Chef ever, ask him about “Okinawa Island songs”
5. Friendliest staff ever. We talked to all of them
6. Make sure to order Nigiri Salmon Flambe. Omg..I still can’t get over the taste. We liked it so much we went for another round.
