After wrapping up our free high school haircuts community event by Oak Park Library and Access Granted services , we headed to Hecho in Oak Park and it was the perfect way to close out a day rooted in service and connection.
From the moment we walked in, the energy matched our own: warm, welcoming, and full of flavor. They had the latin vibes not too loud and everybody was able to chat with one another. The staff greeted us with a “welcome” and quickly found us a table. Maybe we got lucky because from what we seen, while eating , it can get packed pretty quick. It was definitely not a place to hangout for 2+ hours, since they have limited sitting, Hecho en Oak Park might be small but it got that cozy, cantina style/ “fundita” vibe that instantly transports you to a vibrant corner of Mexico.
Now let’s talk tacos. The fish and shrimp tacos were our favorite. Fresh meaty, and layered with just the right kick. The dinks hit the spot too, and the service was fast and friendly, keeping the good vibes flowing. On top of that, we would recommend the lentil soup and the “queso Fundido” as an appetizer. All tortillas were hand made with masa de maiz.
Hecho is a place that feels like community. After a day of giving back, it gave us a moment to sit, savor, and reflect. Highly recommend

If you’re looking for a relaxed evening with a drink in hand and irresistible bites like tacos and nachos, this spot is just what you need! Tucked along the vibrant Lake Street, this cozy yet lively Mexican restaurant brings the Oak Park’s energy right to your table.
The ambiance is a joyful tribute to Dia de los Muertos, with colorful artwork that instantly brightens the space and sets the mood. Though intimate in size, the atmosphere is brimming with fun and flavor. One of my favorite menu is The Mexican street corn, coated in mayo, Mexican cheese and smoky paprika.
The menu is packed with bold flavors, whether you opt for the variety of tacos, the hearty burritos, or any of the other mouthwatering dishes. Every plate delivers a vibrant, satisfying taste that keeps you coming back for more.

Real nice restaurant. Colorful and vibrant. Had the elote as an app, it was okay. Tried all 5 of their tacos and they were very scrumptious washed it down with a Mexican Coke. The bathrooms are very nice and the service was quick, the way I like it. would recommend. Also, they have very tasty margaritas.

Being vegan, amazing tacos are somewhat hard to find. The jamaica and the nopalitos (no cheese) tacos are amazing! After discovering this little gem, I find myself craving these tacos at least once a week. Super yummy!

Very bizarre if you want cheese on your tacos they charge you for the cheese and make you put it on your own taco with a hike in the price good luck I will never be back very disappointed ! This use to be my favorite place they are clearly trying to stay afloat with buisness by the prices going up but could have at least put my cheese on my tacos instead of giving it to me in a cup ! 1 out of 10 for me

Super cute Mexican Restaurant in Oak Park. We went on a Sunday and every table was taken by the time we left. They serve breakfast till 2pm so my wife had the Huevos con Nopales which she loved.
I had 3 tacos…Carne Asada which was my favorite.super juicy and stuffed with meat and onions. Their homemade red sauce was fantastic. Also had a Pollo taco and Camaron taco. Both were delicious and they were only 4.95 each!
For drinks I had a Tecate and my wife had their Agua de Jamaica.
Friendly staff, great service and fantastic food . Colorful decor makes you feel like you are back in Mexico! A+

I had take out from this restaurant, along with two family members. I have eaten at several Mexican restaurants this year in South Carolina, Kansas, Florida, Nebraska and Wyoming. They were all 4 and 5 star meals. I was disappointed in this meal, because I compared it to the Mexican food I have had recently. I had chicken tacos and our group shared guacamole and chips. The pieces of chicken in my taco were tiny cubes and had little taste. The pineapple pico de gallo was average and the guacomole was just ok–too spicy for me, but fine for everyone else. My eating companions had the steak tacos, the shrimp tacos and the poblano tacos. They were happy with their meal and both rated their tacos a 4. I cannot rate this restaurant on its service or atmosphere as I have not been to the restaurant.

Hecho never disappoints! The tacos are legit and remind me of tacos in Texas and Mexico. The margaritas (not pictured) are fantastic. You can come in during lunch and be full and happy and out of the restaurant in less than 45 minutes.
