Parents came into town for Valentine’s weekend, wanted sushi for dinner and this restaurant showed up on my google search. Such a welcoming and cozy atmosphere, the food was delicious and they even surprised us with a complimentary dessert. I would give this restaurant a 10/10!!!

Back for the second time this week already! The food is so great , and the service is always so warm and welcoming. I ordered the crab cheese wontons, the Black Jack roll, and a Yama hand roll. The sushi here is incredibly fresh, but seriously—do not sleep on the Black Jack roll. It’s the very last special roll on the menu. If you’re reading this, just order it. You won’t regret it!

Food is great. Always very fresh. Service is wonderful. Staff is very nice. If you skip drinks it can actually be a very affordable meal for a family. Not a bash on them. It’s just not cheap to drink out. We’ve been going for years. Even through COVID.

We had an amazing dinner here tonight — everything from start to finish was perfect. The sushi rolls were incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the presentation was beautiful. We tried several different rolls, and each one was better than the last — highly recommend the Red Dragon Roll! It was absolutely delicious. The drinks were fantastic too and paired perfectly with our meal.

What really stood out was the service — it was so fast and efficient without ever feeling rushed. Every staff member was warm, welcoming, and attentive. To top it all off, they surprised us with a complimentary dessert, which was such a thoughtful touch and the perfect sweet ending to our meal.

The prices were very reasonable for the quality and experience — truly an amazing value. Sushi Taro has definitely become one of our new favorite spots, and we can’t wait to come back!

This is a good place for sushi. The atmosphere inside is quiet and pleasant. The sushi was made around 10-15 mins after ordering, but I think the reason why the service was fast was because there weren’t that many people at the time. The sushi were great, the sashimi was not too fresh, but it was enjoyable. The staff were polite and generous, we got free desert! The desert was small, but still free. I would recommend this place to another person.

Best sushi place in Mount pleasant! The food is always fresh, good menu choices. The owner is doing amazing work, always staying busy and positive towards all clients. Hahaha and of course I cannot forget about free dessert to each order consumed at the restaurant. They are very good as well with orders to go, all is well packed.

Last night we stopped in for an early dinner. I have a 17 month old so meals are usually quick and can sometimes be stressful. We were the only ones in the restaurant and our food came out quickly. Our sushi was fresh and fantastic. I would argue the best sushi in town that I’ve found. In addition, our server kept our son entertained and giggling the entire time so my husband and I could eat peacefully. He has no idea how much this meant to us but truly had the most wonderful experience here. Will absolutely be back and suggest anyone else do the same!

We stopped here tonight after driving into town to visit. We were immediately seated. We ordered the gyoza, crab cheese wonton, angry dragon roll, pad thai with chicken and the shrimp and steak hibachi. First off the appetizers came out immediately after the soup and salad and then they brought the sushi. Then about 3 minutes later our entrees were brought to our table. We weren’t able to even finish one appetizer before we had our entrees. Staggering the dishes works wonders so customers dont feel rushed and have plenty of room. The freshness of the sushi and the flavor was off the charts. Some of the best gyoza and the crab cheese wonton was top 5 quality. We’ve tried alot. The steak and shrimp was good but the rice lacked flavor and was just bland. The yum yum sauce was a bit too sweet but the downer was the pad thai. It didnt have that sweet taste that the usual pad thai has..maybe it was missing palm sugar or tamarind paste. They did give us dessert on the house which seemed to be for each table which was nice.

I am very disappointed and regret bringing my mother here for her birthday. It was my first and will be my last time coming to this restaurant. They must have switched managements or something because our experience was completely opposite of all the good but older reviews. We got the tempura udon dinner entree which comes with a bunch of vegetables and shrimp tempura. The tempura broccoli that they served was so undercooked that it was literally doughy on the inside once you bit into it. The shrimp and the zucchini were also undercooked and still hard. We told the server that the vegetables were so undercooked that it was doughy and that there was raw flour mixture on them, and he just kind of laughed and said that they were going to take it back and cook it for longer?? I was confused and kind of baffled by the response of them laughing at the matter of doughy tempura being served at a restaurant. They also kind of looked at us like he didn’t know what to do and was looking at us as if he was saying, “what do you want me to do?” After a while, they did bring us a new platter of tempura but still undercooked and doughy… at that point we were out of hope of getting good tempura and decided to just finish our other entrees and leave. They asked us how it was going and when told that they were still undercooked but that it was okay, again they just kind of awkward laughed and said, “oh okay sorry.”There was also only 1 other table there so absolutely no excuse why they could not pay better attention to cooking their food thoroughly. How do you mess up and undercook your tempura vegetables TWICE? We asked for the check and after serving us raw flour mixture and then still messing it up the second time, they gave us no discount, did not take it off the check, or offer us free dessert or anything. We paid full dinner prices (not worth it) after walking in 10 min after lunch time was over and had a very bad experience. However, I still tipped. When we were walking out, the older guy, whom I assume is the owner or manager, that was sitting out there almost the entire time started going inside towards the back/kitchen AS we were trying to walk out. Had to turn a little to avoid bumping into us as he said in a very obviously angry and rude tone and manner, “thank you, BYE.” Why was he angry and rude to us after they messed up their food and charged us full prices? Their tables were stained and dirty, the food was bad as mentioned above, and service sucked too. Absolutely no reason to come back to this overpriced place again.
