I saw this place on Facebook shorts and ask a friend that use to live in the area about it. He told me it was a local treasure so when I was in the area I stopped by. I sat at the counter and was greeted by a cute waitress who made me feel welcome. I ordered a hot dog with slaw, a bowl of brown beans, a slice of fresh sliced cheese, and a coke. Everything was great. When I left I got a corn muffin to go. The whole order came to less than $10. I am happy I stopped in at Bowlings Place both for the food and the opportunity to meet some friendly locals.

As a native of this area, I am ashamed to say it’s taken me quite some time to finally stop in and have a Bowlings hot dog. It is definitely a locals favorite and they, alo.g with the staff were great! I had fun talking with everyone almost as much as I enjoyed my food. Of course, I had to have a little bit of everything! Hot dogs, pi tos, corn bread, and cheese. Yes, a slice of cheese. I’ll be back, and if you haven’t been, I highly recommend that you go!

I’d give this zero stars if possible. The absolutely rudest most hateful experience I’ve ever had at a “restaurant”. First time there and unknowingly came in half an hour before close. Was asked what I wanted and when I said a hotdog was told they aren’t serving anymore today and I had best leave/get out. I was polite and left confused and very angry.

Might as well grab the best in the land if I have to wait for my phone to charge to continue a FaceTime showing for a buyer! Girl gotta do what a girl gotta do! Thanks for fueling this Realtor on a busy work day!

The owner is nice. The other workers aren’t. Hot dogs are ok but don’t understand why some people rave about them. I don’t like to go there because there is always some loudmouth who like to hear himself talk and brag about his money and themself. Everyone seems to have a staring problem there.

It reminds me of my Mom and Dad’s store in the 70s Mountain Spring Grocery. They served hot dogs and hamburgers. You don’t need a menu because it’s simple DOWN HOME FOOD. Hot Dogs, Pinto Beans , hoop cheese, and everything is homemade , the chili, Cole slaw, and they serve soda and beer. Definitely coming back

Great hot dogs, Pintos, and cheese just like I remember 30 years ago. Excellent service and super friendly. Plenty of parking. Outside seating and inside. Very welcoming. Not just for locals YOU gotta get some of their hotdogs DELICIOUS! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I don’t give out 5 stars often in my almost 2,000 reviews of everywhere VA & NC.
