Nearly authentic sushi taste, better than trappers sushi. Amazing fresh sushi served here. They have the best Ikura (salmon eggs) be easy on any deep fried items, it may hurt your belly. Friendly accommodating staff. Setting was very Japanese. Horigotatsu table is available, so as regular dinning and the bar.

This is the best sushi I’ve ever had in my life and certainly in Washington.
Please try the Boston and Monkey brain rolls.
The prices are fantastic as well!

They even have private tables where you sit around together on the floor it’s very cozy.

Staff was kind and fun, thank you!
Please tip your servers

When I moved from Florida to the area, the first thing I did was to find a authentic Japanese restaurant that I can go on a regular basis. I love Japanese food because I have lived in Japan for over 10 years. I have a Japanese college degree and I have worked in Tokyo for many years. I know my Japanese food, I can tell whether it’s a authentic one or not, sometimes just by look the dishes, of course by the taste as well. The owner has been operating the Akasaka restaurant for over 30 years. The husband is behind the counter making sashimi and sushis. From what I have eaten, I can tell that he is professionally trained, he has passion on what he does and he is proud of everything he presents to his customers. All raw stuff I have eaten here are all very fresh and the best I have eaten in the area. The chef is a honest individual, sometimes I ask for a type of fish, he tells me that the fish is not very fresh today, instead he recommends another fish. Most of the time, I just ask for a “omakase” sashimi and have a bottle of Japanese beer or some sake to go with it. End the meal, I sometimes order a few sushis I like or just have a bowl of rice and miso soup that the wife brings. She manages the front from taking orders to clean tables and cashier. Looks like sometimes she May needs some help but she told me that now days, it’s difficult to find the right people. I was very satisfied for every meal I had here and alway feel that I can’t wait to have another good meal here again when I leave. You won’t find sushi with a lot of mayonnaise on top here, but if you enjoy authentic Japanese food from sashimi, sushi to tempura and other traditional Japanese dishes, this is the perfect place for you.

This place is a hidden treasure. The food is phenomenal, the service and atmosphere are wonderful, and I wish I knew about this place sooner! Many of their takeout items aren’t listed on Doordash/Grubhub/delivery apps so look at their online menu and order to pick up if you are wanting take out. Came with 3 types of pickles/kimchee for free! HIGHLY recommend.

Nice neighborhood restaurant with a selection of Japanese and Korean food. We tried their sushi, bento box, ribs, and of course the miso soup and salad (which came with the meal). The portions are large and we had plenty of leftovers to take home.

Yum! I love this place. I ordered for take-out last night. The app said that it would be ready in 20 min. When I showed up, they were running a bit behind.

There were 3 other people in line waiting for their order as well— All practicing social distancing. My order took an extra 15 min, but it’s understandable. There were 2 employees in the back running and hustling to finish all the online orders. A little patience and understanding is needed during this crisis.

Anyways, the food is wonderful. I ordered the chirashi bowl, the toro (fatty tuna) nigiri, miso soup, and seaweed salad. The chirashi bowl had delicious, fresh fish. The toro was melt-in-your mouth good. The seaweed salad was well-seasoned with a bit of sesame oil added in as well.

Good portion sizes, fresh fish, and well-seasoned throughout. I’m a fan of this place. Cheers to them for working their tushes off to feed us quarantined folks.

DO MOT come here if you’re not Asian. I came here with my Mexican bf (and I’m middle eastern ) and everyone including the chef were giving us dirty looks the whole time. Gave off super racist vibes and the food is no where near good enough for that kind of treatment. These people should be ashamed of themselves.

My Brother in Laws Birthday dinner, this is his favorite place But….our first trip there was very disappointing. The server was either new or just didn’t care, we had to keep asking for items we already ordered multiple times, usually there is tea/soup to start the meal…nothing. Once we did get food it was good but not great. Spent a few hundred dollars and likely won’t go back. Maybe it’s because of gradually coming out of the restrictions but if so, not a good start.

I had dinner here with my wife before. The food is authentic and really delicious—especially the sushi, which was fresh and well-prepared.

The customer service was good, though it took a little longer to get our order in and for the food to arrive. The atmosphere has some nice dividers between tables, giving a bit of privacy, but the arrangement felt a bit cramped.

We were seated in the back, and unfortunately, the server didn’t come by as often to check on us. In contrast, the people sitting in the front near the sushi chefs seemed to get more attention. Overall, it’s a good spot for great food, but just be mindful of where you sit.
