I asked for a custom cake. I went with the guava flavor. Cake was very dry, the guava flavor was just a guava jam in between the layers and the cake was uneven at the top and they couldn’t close the lid of the box. The color of the cake was very potent and it stained my guest’s mouths and I could also taste the color with every bite. You can only place orders in Spanish and the person taking down my credit card got the number wrong 3 times (the conversation happened in Spanish FYI). Nobody ate the cake after taking 1 bite and I had to toss it in the bin.

Absolutely amazing! La Gran Via Bakery never disappoints. Their croquettes are perfectly crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside – truly some of the best I’ve ever had. And the Cuban sandwich? Incredible! Perfectly pressed, loaded with flavor, and made just right every single time.
If you’re craving authentic Cuban flavors and fresh bakery vibes, this is the spot. Highly recommend!

This Cuban bakery is my go-to for the most delicious pasteles. The guava with queso is my absolute favorite. It is the perfect mix of sweet and savory wrapped in a flaky, buttery crust. Their meat pasteles are just as incredible, packed with flavor and super satisfying. Every bite tastes homemade and authentic. If you love Cuban pastries, this place is a must-visit!

TBH I’m surprised by some of the mixed reviews because my experience here has been nothing but great. The pastries are always fresh, the Cuban sandwiches are packed with flavor, and the coffee is exactly what I want in the morning, strong and smooth.
The staff is friendly and patient even when the place gets busy, and there’s something comforting about the old-school neighborhood vibe. It’s the kind of bakery that reminds you why small local spots beat the chains every time.
If you’re nearby, try the pastel de guava y queso the empanadas.. you’ll see what I mean. This place has been consistently good every time I’ve gone, and I’ve been coming here for over a decade. One of Union City’s hidden gems!!!

Have been going to this bakery since I was a kid! This family owned business has always been super friendly, the food has remained consistently delicious and fresh, and the prices have stayed reasonable amidst inflation.
Recently chose La Gran Via catering for my business event & it was an absolute hit! Definitely the best authentic Cuban bakery in Hudson County. Recommend for any occasion—breakfast bite, quick lunch (the Cuban sandwich is the BEST), quick snack or catering (cakes are also delicious).

Starting with their amazing attention to detail, La Gran Via Bakery is the best bakery around. They patiently listened as I explained what type of cake I needed for my party and delivered big time. Not to mention their pasteles and empanadas, I had guests fighting for the last croquetta, they were SOOOO good. I highly recommend this establishment whether it’s for a party or if you just want a cafe con leche and a snack!
