Nice, cozy setting with super comfy booths. Good drink and wine selection. Enough food choices without being too many.
My sister was my dining partner and she does not care for meat. She isn’t vegan or anything, just doesn’t like meat that much. She ordered the medallions with shrimp and raved about it. Told all her friends about it. With good reason. The steak was divine. Just perfect.
I had tiger shrimp and we shared a wedge salad. All very good. Bread basket with some fancy caramel cream butter.
Oh- don’t skip dessert. The creme brulee and chocolate mousse were every bit as good as the entrees. Worth every calorie!!!!
Next time I am hungry while gambling, Ruthie’s has my business.
Top notch for a fair price.
Appetizers were ok.
Flavors didnt work great together with the steak lollys.
The wedge salad was not good, again the flavors didnt work well together.
My steak was cooked well but was the saltiest steak I have ever had. I LOVE salt but even I felt it was a bit much.
My wife had the lobster. It was labeled market price, no big deal. We were thinking it would be 70ish dollars. Nope. It was 170 that they just dropped on us when we got the bill. We have it but had we known it was that much we would have ordered something else.
Total bill with no alcohol was 325 for mediocre food and not great service.
We dont plan on returning.
Pros: the bread was the best part. The Mac and cheese and Filet medallions were good, but definitely needed more seasoning.
Cons: our waitress Lyla was very inattentive (not in a malicious way, just lackadaisical). She kept disappearing for 20+ minute increments and it took forever to order. She forgot to bring out almost every dish and drink we ordered, she even had to reorder the mac and cheese because she admitted it didn’t get put on the slip. She blamed it on being the end of her shift and her brain was tired, which I understand as I was a waitress for years, but this happened multiple times. She forgot our bread, then the oil and vinegar. Not apologetic at all. She didn’t tell us the specials for the night either. The other waitresses all around us seemed great though! And the bartender was helpful in delivering the drinks our waitress forgot about.
As for the food: The French onion soup tasted like a thickened gravy and the onions were still crunchy. My husband’s ribeye was barely seared, the texture was mushy. The drinks were okay.
Overall just not very impressed. We frequent many different steakhouses in the Siouxland area and this is at the bottom of our list.
The drink menu is expansive and the drinks we tried (Royal Flush and Ruthie’s Grand Old Fasion) were excellent!
We got the French Onion and Lobster Bisque soups as starters and they were both amazing and filling.
The portions are massive, so don’t be afraid of the prices on the menu. My husband ordered the Surf & Turf and he devoured it! It looked delicious. I ordered the Short Rib. I did not enjoy the short rib as much as my husband enjoyed his food. It was dry and reminded me of a pot roast I can make at home for considerably less money. We also got the family side of brocollini. It was a little underdone but still delicious.
Our server was the perfect amount of attentive, we had what we needed when we needed it and he otherwise left us alone to be together.
I personally would not come here again, mainly because of the value for the money.
