GET THE SNACK, NOT THE PLATE** Their tenders are the size of chicken beasts & their sides are also big. Chicken is so tender, juicy, crunchy, flavorful. Better flavor than Prince’s, much better than Hattie B’s. Parking lot sucks though, but you can eat at the bar next door.. which happens to be the oldest running bar in TN.

We ordered the snack box, mild. The two pieces of chicken tenders were not on the same spice level–one was not spicy at all and the other piece had more heat. The mac&cheese side dish was actually spicier than the mild chicken–they must’ve added jalapeño or pepper in there.

Probably don’t go there if you are already very hungry. Food is made to order–it tasted good but took a while to come out.

Red’s is one of the top hot chicken spots in Nashville. There are chairs, but I doubt people stay and eat there very often, everything is served in styrofoam takeaway containers. In summer when it’s hot and humid they have a deal with the bar next door and you can wait in the air conditioned bar. Great food, great atmosphere.

After intense research for best nashville hot chicken sandwich we found Red’s and it was worth researching. Pro tip: go pair the hot chicken with a cheap beer next door while you wait for your food. Medium was the perfect spice level, hot was pretty intense. But if you like spice, youll love it. Nobody was brave enough try the hottest available. Chicken tenders 10/10 chicken sandwich 10/10 Hot Chicken Mac & Cheese, OMG! So good! 11/10. Loved the seasoning on the fries too.

Great divey find with free parking. Was about a 25 minute wait. Staff was cool. Highly highly recommend this spot!

Where do I start… if you are ever in Nashville and are looking for the most authentic and tastiest Nashville Hot Chicken, this is the spot! The wait is absolutely worth it and everything on the menu is phenomenal. We are Nashville locals and we try to visit at least once a week (if not more). The service is absolutely stellar and you will be very impressed with your experience at Red’s Hot Chicken!

Best Nashville hot chicken spot. Wait was 40 min at lunch time but it was well worth it. The pimento cheese sandwich was a standout. Patio is dog friendly! Spicy tenders, right next to a cash only bar so you can grab beers – what more could you ask for from the city of Nashville?

I’m not even sure who first told me about Red’s Hot Chicken, but I’m glad they did. It’s a little shack — totally nondescript — with no real seating and just a walk-up window next to one of Nashville’s oldest bars (which dates back to the Prohibition era). When you order, they tell you upfront how long it’ll take, and in our case, it was about 30–35 minutes. Later, the wait stretched closer to an hour, but honestly, it was worth every minute.

There wasn’t much of a line outside, which was misleading because they clearly had a ton of orders queued up inside. We ordered the medium chicken strips and the crunch wrap — and both were absolutely incredible. Easily one of the highlights of our weekend in Nashville.

It’s the definition of unassuming: simple setup, no frills, just amazing food. Grab a casual beer next door or hang out while you wait. When we went, there was a huge arts-and-crafts event going on behind the restaurant with thousands of people, so I imagine on a normal weekend the wait would be shorter.

This was the cheapest meal we had all weekend, yet it made us smile the most. If you’re in Nashville and want what I’d call the best hot chicken in town, don’t miss Red’s. Totally worth the stop.

Reds was the number one suggestion we got for hot chicken in the Nashville area. The food was SO GOOD. Everything about it was super flavorful and juicy. I dream about their Mac and Cheese. I want to give them a 5 star but we were told 45 minutes to get our food (which honestly is kind of insane but the food is worth it) but it ended up taking almost an hour and fifteen minutes to get our food which is why I’m only giving 4 stars. I get that they’re busy but if it’s always like that they need to figure out how to get orders out faster.

We visited Red’s Hot Chicken in Nashville and loved it! We tried the Mild and Nashville Fire chicken, and both were incredible perfectly crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. The Nashville Fire had a great kick without being unbearable, and the Mild was so tasty you almost don’t need sauce. We also tried the pimento mac & cheese and seasoned fries, and both were delicious cheesy, flavorful, and the perfect sides. The staff was friendly and efficient, and the casual walk-up window made the experience fun and easy. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Nashville hot chicken!

Pretty good food, great location. I had the two thigh plate, one hot one medium, with pimento mac and cheese ( this was the standout), and fries.

I enjoy spicy food and didn’t find the chicken especially spicy at all, but very flavorful. Mac and cheese was delicious, I could eat a bucket of this, fries are just crinkle cut with some seasoning tossed on, but were hot, crispy, and fresh.

I was there on a Sunday so there was a bit of a wait, about 15 minutes or so to get my food, but I enjoyed the wait with a cold $4 PBR nextdoor. My food order was $16 I think, so about average in 2025 $.

Overall I enjoyed the food, not much atmosphere to speak of, but Vandy is across the street and the Pantheon Park is all right there, so there are options to take you food and go wherever.
