This big and designer- decorated restaurant is beautiful. We went for the promotional item “The Buddha jumping the Wall” 佛跳牆. The food tastes good, but not great. I like it because it is not too salty. The overall prices on the menu are affordable. Services is good… including the robot waiters ….

Wish I remembered to take more photos of my food. I was too busy enjoying the various courses. Highly recommend the course meals as they have different price ranges suitable for all. Atmosphere is nice and quiet, servers are prompt and friendly. Steak is tender and juicy, paired perfectly with complementary truffle salt.

The moment we walked into the restaurant all the staff looked at my girlfriend and I, then went back to what they were doing. It took 2 full minutes before someone realized we walked in to eat and not to admire the tacky decor.

We were finally sat down and we placed our order by means of the Groupon set menu. The appetizer included one mussel with hair on it and one with something crunchy on the inside. The soup was next, which involved a lobster bisque served on top of mashed potatoes and a (french?) onion soup served on top of a single onion ring. The mains were passible, but by the time we were ready for dessert we just wanted to leave.

We were promptly ignored for nearly 20 minutes. We tried flagging the waitress twice, where the second time she advised us that she would get our original waiter. We wanted to ask for our dessert to be packed and requested the bill. Our waiter took some extra time because he was occupied scribbling something down before finally bringing us the bill with a full breakdown written on the receipt on how much 15%, 20%, and 25% tip for our meal would cost. Keep in mind that again, we purchased the Groupon set menu; so when he brought the full bill with the machine already set for the full price, he was ready to double charge us when all we needed to pay was taxes. We promptly corrected the error and I ended up leaving a cash tip.

Moments before leaving the establishment, we saw our waiter RUNNING to our table to count the tip we left. As we approached our car, the waiter CAME OUT and told us that he recommends a 15% tip. I asked whether this percentage was mandatory in which he replied no. He asked why we tipped so little and we advised him that our service was poor. Bizarre.

The cherry on top: when we got home and checked the cheesecake dessert provided, they were each the diameter of a toonie.

TLDR; don’t eat here.

Atmosphere: comfortable, nice decor
Service: friendly and attentive
Food: I tried the one of the dinner set, foie gras and lobster bisque are great and mixed green are awesome, Salmon is a bit dry. I visited this restaurant years ago, food standard is still great. Overall experience is pleasant. Price and food portion are reasonable.

The server placed the food on the floor, then proceeded to serve those plates to us along with other customers nearby…

I booked this restaurant for Valentine’s Day and when we arrived the atmosphere was intimate. The issues began the moment we were presented the menu and the server asked what we would like to drink. We asked for cold water, but the server repeated that we asked for warm water. So we went with it, no big deal.

We ordered the 2nd tier of the Valentine’s set course. However when the appetizers arrived, we were served the wrong set menu. We asked the server, however she was insistent that we ordered the lower tier menu. We went with it anyways even though we clarified that we were served the wrong set.

We looked over to the group on the right, that is when we realized that the server was placing her serving tray directly on the floor, picking up the dishes, then serving the group with their meals. By then we reached our dessert course. This is when we noticed that our items were also served off of the floor.

When settling the bill, the server stood directly over us and said, “the minimum tip is 15%.” I felt uneasy as the service was not acceptable but gave the 15% she asked for anyways.

Overall, I’m unimpressed.

What a huge disappointment. We had been to this restaurant many years ago and really enjoyed the experience so decided it would be a great place to take my son and his girlfriend for New Years Eve dinner and I feel terrible for picking this dud. Service was non existent and the food was all bland and not seasoned. The in restaurant menu did not match the menu on their website. My husband and I got the $100 dinner option which included a choice of grilled lobster or Alaskan king crab. His grilled lobster was probably the only good food of the night. My crab was not seasoned and very stringy (the sign of overcooking.) Next was the soup course, lobster bisque or fusion onion. The onion came after those of us that got bisque had already finished and consisted of a onion ring covered in parmasean cheese snd then broth poured over. We joked that the fusion was fast food meets “fine” dining. The lobster bisque was just as bad. A tiny shrimp on what we think was mashed potatoes and then a “lobster” broth poured over top. Both soups needed salt added to have any flavor. We ordered our mains and my son’s girlfriend wanted fettuccine as her side instead of mashed potatoes as was indicated as one of the options in the online menu and were told it wasnt possible to substitute but we could order an additional side so we did. Our mains arrived and while the meat quality was not bad it was once avain flavorless The mashed potatoes served under the steak were not creamg or seasoned. .literally potatoes mashed with no cream salt or butter added. Mine were stained red from the steak (which I ordered medium). Dessert was a leeches jelly heartwhich was inedible and a mango mouse which was decent. We were not given or offered coffee. Our waiter barely checked on us, mixed up drinks and food orders consistently and, i almost forgot we had to ask for the fettuccine side twice and it arrived well after we had finished our mains. I ordered a soda water and never received it. Final thought the bread that arrived at the beginning tasted freezer burnt.

For spending over $400 for 4 I would absolutely expect way better food and service

Day and Night has been the go-to place for me and my husband when we want to have a good steak dinner. We love to order their $55 set menu which includes a welcome drink, a choice of appetizer, salad, soup, bread service, main entree, dessert and coffee/tea. This set dinner is totally value-for-money. Where would you be able to find a set menu with so many courses at that price and with a good quality in Toronto now? Tonight we also ordered their oysters which was currently buy 1 get 1 free as we ordered the set dinner. There was a minimum order of a set of 6 oysters though so we ended up having a dozen of oysters. The wait staff recommended us to get the PEI Lime oysters after talking to the chef and this proved to be a good recommendation. We like the proper size of the oysters and they were fresh and tasted good. The wait staff were busy as it did seem they were short staffed but we still received attentive and polite services. We will always come back on our date nights.

I purchased a Groupon thinking it would be a good deal. So My wife and I just went there tonight…

It was HORRIBLE…

1- salad:: great
2- mussels.: over cooked and no taste
3- oysters: served raw, which is fine, but it’s the type of oysters you’d normally eat cooked and not raw otherwise it taste weird.
4- we ordered more 12 oysters but à la carte and they were slightly smaller but still big and honestly no taste. I didn’t want to finish them but my wife insisted…
5- now comes what we came here for : ANGUS. I asked mine for rare and they were medium rare but worst: they were chewy and hard but NOTHING like the nice juicy steak you would expect… I ate only 1/4 and my wife 1/3. We took the rest home for our dog… it was one of the worst dinner out.

Now comes the bill: they automatically charged 18.5%

Total for the night : $200 including the Groupon and the extra oysters and tax and tips.

Total rip off… we would have had a better dinner at some Vietnamese pho for 1/4 of the price..

Horrible dinner
Service was great though

I told my wife to NEVER go there again

Great Service. The Overall atmosphere along with the food was spectacular. The customer service is very professional, along with the taste of every set meal as I came alone since my partner was busy. I wanted to give 3.5 stars but no such option.
Price is fair, food is just ok, service is so so. But they were probably short on people, so the waiting time was quite long and we had to eat a lot of breads.
One thing made me didn’t give a 4 stars reviews was that we were told that there was a mandatory minimum tip of 15%. But in Canada, there’s no law that mandates a specific tip amount. Tipping is a voluntary practice and the amount you give depends on the quality of service and your own discretion!
Well, we still tipped 15%, but I found the machine default is 15% AFTER tax.
Based on the overall experience, I won’t visit again.
