A Spice Below the Horizon
A little bit disappointed since my shrimp and grits came to the table ice cold. It was a slightly above average experience. However, they did redo my order. The Fish and Chips was fantastic. Our waitress was helpful with suggestions but some of the other staff were more into conversation with each other than the clients. As for hospitality, I would say they need work. Food was fantastic with appropriate amounts.

Spectacular experience. I was always referred to try it out being a seafood lover and after a year (wish it didn’t take me that long) I finally did.
The service was great and the food was delectable. Oysters were fresh and they had a good mix to choose from from various parts of the world. Server was most attentive and the cooks made a happy error for us, but they were most accommodating in that regard. We’ll definitely be back, very nice and laid back environment.

We chose this place based on Yelp rating. It was not a disappointment. It’s a casual and swanky spot. Due to the time we had a choice of seating. Our server, Sandy, was bubbly and helpful since it was our first visit. Good spot to try oysters for the first since they offer in so many variations. The food was GREAT. Sandy really tried to help us to get spots to visit while in Charlotte…..like I said helpful. We enjoyed Mimosa and Bloody Mary. The drinks are OKAY….. nothing to brag about. Hope you enjoy your visit. And tell Sandy I said hello if she is there.

Service and atmosphere excellent. Too bad the oysters weren’t as equally good (small & limited in choices) or 5 star. The clam chowder was good but needed more seasoning. Fried shrimp was perfect and the egg rolls were huge with shrimp and Spanish rice. The lobster roll was good. I ordered mine cold. I like a bit more butter but just a preference. They had a really nice menu of seafood and local freshwater fare also. Looking for a nice place for a date or friends this is a cool vibe. Full bar. I lived in South Florida so maybe I was spoiled there but this place and its recipes are nice for the area and surrounding demographic. I’ll be back. Hopefully bigger and better oysters next time instead of the small flimsy things I paid 18 bucks for.

Fresh seafood, great vibes, and excellent service! My partner ordered the Shrimp Platter (fried), I ordered Oysters (appetizer), and Shrimp and Grit. Everything was delicious and fresh. Thanks, Garrett, for your outstanding service! We will be back.

Great place and service. Fabulous and delicious food. The Fritters were crispy on the outside. Each bite was delicious. Calamari was fried to a crispy perfection, and the Oysters were amazing.

Overall really good, but certain items could use some work. We had grilled swordfish which was very well prepared, the rice side was average. Calamari was excellent. Char grilled oysters were very tasty but extremely small oysters which made them a disappointing dish. The seafood tower was good overall but underwhelming for the cost ($80), again since some of the oysters were literally the size of a nickel at best, own descriptions didn’t match the menu also. Overall the service was excellent, restaurant was clean and I’d consider returning, but I honestly think it’s a bit overpriced for what they serve.

We contacted the Pearlz in Charlotte (we love the one in Charleston too) about having a Birthday party for my husband and to have large crew 20+ people. The managers, Travis & Joshua are exceedingly professional. They simply amazed us, they under promised and “way” over delivered. Not only did they have seating created to accommodate us, they were wonderful about adding another table when our party grew a little larger. The wait staff were wonderful, allowing the guests to have time settling in, getting their drinks, before rushing into the dinner orders. The drinks were amazing, I had a double Tanqueray dirty martini, with extra olives and it was super yummy! Then of course we had raw oysters which had the perfectly salty, fresh, clean, plump and tasty. It was the first day of Queens Feast, so I ordered the Mussels & Brussels and can I say, if I was given a last meal that would be one to choose(kudos to the Chef). The broth was buttery, & the Chorizo gave it a great spice, the salinity & seafood flavor combined made an ajus that was wonderful to sop with that wonderful bread. My Entree, Shrimp & Grits were flavorful and the shrimp perfectly cooked, not rubbery. We all had an amazing time, and would highly recommend this local seafood restaurant to friends! Thank you to Pearlz, who made our evening a night to remember!

We wanted to try this location so badly, after visiting one in Charleston, SC. We were not dissapointed. The staff was welcoming and accomodating. They gave us the booth we wanted, so our sleeping toddler could be comfortable. Cocktails were perfectly made. The fried southern oysters are my favorites, but we also enjoyed the fresh raw oysters. I will be coming back very soon!
