We wanted to eat ramen since my boyfriend was craving it and we had some chores to do around Alameda. There was a few tables but relatively empty at around noon on a Saturday. I really wish I liked this spot but the whole experience was pretty mid. The service was great – the hostess/server was attentive and sweet. It looked like there were only two people working (one person in the back cooking and one person in the front of house). The atmosphere itself is kind of basic looking and quiet. As for the food (the most important part), it was pretty disappointing and didn’t really taste authentic to me.

1/5 – Renkon Mentai Ae – this was a hard eat for me, but I feel like it can be better if they torched the mayo.

5/5 – Green Tea – the hot roasted green tea was so good that I had to ask them where they purchased their tea!

2/5 – Miso Ramen – the broth didn’t really taste like your typical miso ramen (it tasted kind of weird), the toppings were a bit strange to me (e.g., chopped cabbage, big chunks of scallions), the egg was overcooked, BUT the ramen noodles itself were pretty tasty and slightly el dente.

Overall, it’s definitely cheaper than some ramen spots around the area, but would no be my go-to.

Their standard Tonkotsu ramen was good for a first time visit. They have decent portion sizes. I’ll likely try more of their ramens on other trips. They’re the best for ramen in Alameda!

I’ve eaten here a couple of times and this place is consistently good.

When you want a classic ramen that has all the fix-ins, a clean broth, and good proteins – this is your place. It’s a chill restaurant and they have a nice variety of starters. The ramen here isn’t special or outstanding, but it’s good classic comfort food.

They have seating outside and the prices are what you’d expect for ramen out here in the Bay Area/Alameda area.

Come here if you just want a hot, steaming, classic bowl of ramen.

Didn’t know they have an Alameda location! Ramen Hiroshi has some of the best chicken karaage. We tried their fried squid as well. Can’t go wrong with their tonkotsu ramen. I’d say the overall experience at San Francisco was better but I’m happy to see this here at Alameda.

The place is small and cozy.
We enjoyed our food and the service. Our waiter was super nice and friendly, she immediately offered water or tea.
The tea was really good.
The takoyaki were good, the ramen was missing something although the meat was delicious.

Ordered tonkotsu shoyu ramen, broth is actually not bad, flavorful and savory, pairs wells with the thin ramen noodles. But chashu is not very tender.

First impression was not good though, lots of big flys when we get in the door, sanitation should be improved.

Just another ramen spot to me. My broth was a little bit bland and everything else unremarkable but ramen and noodle soup is my weakness so it was still comforting. Parking can get a bit rough so we had to go into the neighborhood behind to finally get a spot.

Food: 5/10
Vibes: 5/10
Service: 5/10
Value: 4/10

Great little ramen restaurant in the hubbub of Alameda. Service was on point, and our food was delicious.
My husband loves citrus so he ordered the yuzu ramen and it was a huge hit for him. I enjoyed my miso ramen. The broth was Savory and robust, & the noodles had a great texture. I do wish there was a TV or some music for ambience but otherwise it was a great lunch date.

Was interested to try Ramen Hiroshi based on their menu. They have lots of appetizers/small plates that one would usually find featured on an Izakaya menu, like Nankotsu Karaage (fried
chicken cartilage) and Mentaiko Potatoes.

Because of this, I think I expected a higher level of quality and authenticity. Me and a friend shared the Hanetsuki gyoza, Nankotsu Karaage, Mentaiko potatoes, and Yuzu ramen. All were just okay, and didn’t have the quality ingredients or level of flavor I was hoping for. Notably, the Mentaiko potatoes didn’t taste like there was Mentaiko in them at all..more just like home fries with kewpie mayo and ao nori on top. The yuzu ramen lacked a deeper yuzu flavor and was too salty.

Overall, I’d say this place is on par with other ramen chains in the Bay Area, but offers more unique dishes than chicken karaage and gyoza, which makes it a nice choice for a casual meal. However, you can probably find these aforementioned dishes executed better at (albeit more expensive) izakayas like Kiraku, Ippuku or Rintaro.

Also Yojimbo two doors down is a ghibli/anime themed ramen and sushi spot. Just sayin..

THE highest quality ramen on this side of the bay! Incredible flavor, authentic ingredients, good service and good price. Even my husband, born and raised in Japan was impressed by this place. We will definitely be going again!
