Cajun sounded like a change, so we decided to stop by. We ordered the sampler. Everything was good. I wouldn’t say it was outstanding, but it was good.
Nice change of pace. Portions were a tad small, but it was good enough.
Worth a shot-MVP

NOLA is a nice little over-the-counter, change-of-flavor place to stop and get your fill of southern seasoning. The food came rather quickly after ordering, and they have a nice patio to enjoy your meal outside if desired. I thought the music was a little loud inside.

I tried the mushroom etouffee and sides of jambalaya and gumbo. They were certainly contrasting flavors. The etouffee was very mild and earthy, almost to the point of wanting more flair. The jambalaya, on the other hand, was smokey and spicy, which is exactly what I was looking for.

The seafood gumbo is my favorite dish. The dark roux with loads of shrimp and crayfish tails is awesome!

I dined in, but this is also a great grab-and-go spot for lunch.

Food was delicious You order at the counter and someone brings it out to you! The gumbo had a nice spicy flavor to it and was served with a piece of buttery French bread. Drinks are in cans. My hubby had the Michigan muffaletta and it was delicious also.

Etouffee was excellent, very authentic, so was the Gumbo and red beans and rice. Mac n cheese not so much. Could have a box mix.

Service was very good also. Can’t wait to try other main dushes.

Only reason I gave the food a 4 was because of the man n cheese. Evething else was a 5+.

NolaRoux is a diamond in Watervliet! I don’t often leave reviews, but when I do – it’s because it was truly 10/10. This was my husband and I’m first time in and we both have lived in North Carolina, where we often got broils and traveled to get broils. The Saturday Special broil at NolaRoux was arguably MUCH better than anything we got in Savannah/Florida because it was more than Old Bay – it was mixed balanced seasonings with delicious butter. We ordered a seafood salad po’boy to split, along with a broil special to split. Delicious – and the cornbread was perfectly sweet to balance the savory broil shrimp. Our waitress who we took our order with realized we were splitting the broil and was so kind to provide an additional cornbread! Even though it was a window order style, she still checked on us throughout the meal seeing if we needed anything/asking how it was. 10/10 staff! Truly will add this to our rotation – thanks for choosing VanBuren County!

If you haven’t tried Nola Roux in Watervliet you are missing out on an outstanding culinary delight! Just across the street from the high school you’ll find the second location for Nola Roux but certainly not second best as they have already matched if not exceeded the expectations by the first location over in Saint Joseph. Often enjoying the delicious menu for lunch over in St. Joe, now we can pop in the Watervliet location to pick up the same fantastic offerings on the way home for dinner. Pedro and staff are always so very accommodating and helpful when selecting the Cajun/Creole dishes that make us very fortunate to have them here in SW Michigan. I’m giving them a perfect score because not only is the food fantastic but the staff’s friendly make it happen attitude make you want to ensure that this restaurant becomes a fixture and go to destination for us here in the Tri-City area. Just picked up our King Cake for Fat Tuesday, included a picture here, and also sharing a picture of the whole she-bang shrimp boil that I had last Saturday that was perfectly seasoned and quite honestly way too much for just one person. Get out and enjoy Nola Roux and enjoy something new!

I went to NOLA ROUX for lunch and ordered the shrimp Poboy. It was fantastic. Staff was customer service oriented, atmosphere was well suited and had New Orleans themed music playing in the background. I will be a returning customer!

Nola Roux Watervliet is the go-to place for the best Cajun food I have ever tasted. With affordable prices and friendly service, it’s a simple choice for me. Whenever I have late nights at the office, I always opt for their convenient take-out. I have explored their menu extensively and have never been disappointed. Trust me, you won’t be either!
