Stopped into Crooked Tale while passing through Crestview and it turned out to be a solid find. It’s more of a sports bar vibe — casual, energetic, and comfortable, with football playing on the TVs and a good crowd.
I ordered a glass of Basil Hayden whiskey, which was smooth and poured well. For food, I went with the burger and the staff-recommended mac and cheese. The burger was pretty basic in presentation but still appetizing and hit the spot. The mac and cheese was the standout — creamy white cheddar topped with crispy bacon — rich, flavorful, and exactly what you want in comfort food.
Service was friendly and quick, and prices felt fair for the quality. Overall, Crooked Tale is a great local stop if you’re looking for good food, whiskey, and a relaxed sports-bar atmosphere. I’d definitely come back on game day.

If I could give zero stars, I would. The food might have been fine (hard to say since we barely got any), but the service was absolutely awful. From the moment we walked in, it felt like we were an inconvenience rather than customers. No greeting, no smile, just an annoyed host pointing us to a table.
Our server took forever to show up, and when they finally did, they acted like taking our order was a chore. Drinks took every bit of 30 minutes to arrive. The Food took over two hours to hit the table. Not once did anyone check on us after dropping off the food, and flagging down help was nearly impossible because the staff avoided eye contact like it was a sport.
I don’t care how good a kitchen is—if the service is this consistently careless and unfriendly, it ruins the entire experience. This place clearly doesn’t value its customers, and I won’t be back.
The picture is their “boneless wings” it actually chopped up chicken tenders.
The sweet potato fries were cold and soggy, the chicken tenders we ordered for our kids were over cooked and burnt.

The hubby and I stopped in for brunch and overall had a decent experience. Service was good, especially considering there were only two servers covering the whole dining room. They did a nice job keeping up with everyone.
I do wish there were a few more non-breakfast brunch options on the menu. My Paloma cocktail was refreshing and delicious. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles — the waffles were perfectly crispy, but the chicken could use a little more flavor. I went with the steak and eggs, which I’d rate about 3/5, but the brunch potatoes were amazing — seasoned just right and definitely the highlight of my meal.
All in all, we enjoyed our visit and would come back, but a little more variety and consistency in the dishes would make this place even better.

Got the shrimp pasta and it was packed full of flavor. Highly recommend. Got a bite of the burger and it was good. Not special, but good. The fries were the best part of the meal. Connor was our server and took great care of us, They are pet friendly and our doggo had a great time. Plan on becoming regulars here.

All in all it was a vibe. We came on a Friday night and service was quick. We had a bucket of beers, pretzels for an appetizer (sorry the pic, I forgot to take a pic ), and wings!! Football on every screen, great service, and food. We sat at the bar and Victoria was awesome! Had great local recommendations and honestly just good conversation. Did I mention the Food was good? We’ll be back! Ow, they have specials for game day!!!!

Had an absolute hankering for some Mahi tonight and from looking at the online menu saw an”Five Families Fish” meal and got completely thrown off by the “In-Person” menu which the closest thing they actually had was Mahi Fish tacos so I went with that. The fish was nicely paired with the avocado but the tortilla was too stiff and the service is absolute crap. I simply asked for an extra napkin for the sauce and the bar maid acknowledged and was like “Sure thing.” Then never did it. Same thing when I initially sat down and she asked what I would like to drink. I said “Unsweet tea, please.” and she acknowledged then five minutes later asked If needed a drink. I honestly do not mind tucking her tip money right back in my pocket though. The live band was pretty decent but other than that. Boring with bad food that has a completely misleading advertisement. I’ll have to find seafood at a GOOD restaurant at some point this weekend to make up for the waste of money and energy here. I will say they do have a nice selection of beer on tap, though Or, at the labeling on the handles would lead a person to believe they did.

First time trying this place. Server was great but food was below average. The burger was a pre made patty that was smaller than the bun and had zero flavor. It was cooked just right and the fries were good. We had loaded fries as an appetizer and even though the portion was very small for the price, they were good. Drinks were good and fairly priced. We won’t be back.

I had to come back to leave this review. As we all know , food options in crestview are extremely limited and almost nonexistent after 9pm . I decided to order food from here for the first time on a whim because everything was closed and I did not want fast food . I ordered the Blackened Chicken Pasta and the Mob Cobb salad . They were both delicious . The food was fresh , hot and extremely flavorful. I did not expect a lot at nearly 10pm but I was incredibly pleased to stumble across this hidden gem.
I ordered my meal to go , it was prepared and ready for pick up in about 10 mins waiting for me at the host stand .
The single negative was when I walked in to get my food . The bar area near the door smelled of sour/rancid alcohol or beer. The bar should be deep cleaned and sanitized properly to get rid of the smell as it was very strong.

Great spot for small or large gatherings- especially for out-of-towners staying in the area for weddings or other events. My niece was getting married at Laurel Hill Farms and we had about 40 people staying in the area all arriving the night before the wedding. Wanting a place to meet up before the wedding I called several venues in Crestview. Not only was Crooked Tale one of the few places to call me back, they called me back immediately and were extremely accommodating and flexible with timing, guest count, not forcing a fixed menu, and allowing for everyone to pay their own bill (as opposed to me fronting it). The night of our gathering they had ample space and live music was an added bonus. The area reserved for us was perfect because we could sit and eat as well as walk around and stand so we could catch up with family we haven’t seen in years. Our dedicated server Kyleigh was super friendly and responsive. Despite about 40 of us (in addition to their usual crowd) cocktails and food came out promptly and food was hot. Not a single mix up in the orders and all was cooked to our request. And the food was delicious!!! I wish I lived closer because I’ll be craving their wings, fries and chicken sandwich for a long time. Highly recommend the bourbon maple bacon and spicy Korean wings..and the bogart bombers (jalapeños wrapped in bacon) were to die for. Others ordered burgers, salads, and sandwiches and were very pleased. Every single person in our large party commented that it was the perfect place for a casual pre-party to the wedding (and if you are from a large family you know someone normally finds something to complain about). Great family run business! I’d give it more stars if I could. Thank you Bobbi and family for working with us and making it such a great night!
