This restaurant is definitely overpriced and it gives the skimpiest portions ever as a hibachi restaurant! I have never come to a hibachi restaurant and left hungry. My steak I ordered medium well and it came out, medium rare, barely cooked by our lifeless chef. The only show that they gave was the fire on the table that felt like it was way too close to our faces. I do not recommend coming to this place because it is a waste of money and they charge a 18% gratuity on top of everything they asked for another tip on top of that! Our waitress was nice, but she only came to the table once and not worth 18% gratuity at all. Then they charge an additional $19 of tax. What a rip off! I did not even get pictures of my food because the portions were terrible. The steak was rare, and the plate is just a skimpy appetizer plate. They even measure out the rice with a small bowl. They do not even have shrimp sauce! And I have never come to a hibachi restaurant that does not have shrimp sauce. I wonder how they are still open. we paid $143 for one steak that he cut into force and barely cooked two appetizers of shrimp that he chopped up and threw this terrible egg yolk sauce on top of and then two more shrimp as my shrimp appetizer for my meal and then the rice wasn’t even good. I am super not happy.

I put notes in my reservation hoping the staff would actually look. My mother had fond memories of this location and our family treated her because she was recently promoted.

Well, the little lady at the front of the house was rude. We asked if we could get seated as our party was at valet, as my mom was so excited to be there. Little lady said no with a smile, maybe she thought the smile would ease the “no” but it didn’t.

We spent lots of $$$ and small gestures really matter. I’m a Chicago foodie and the food was tasty but the service was mediocre for the amount of money we spent. They also add gratuity to the check, which means if you get bad service they still get a hefty tip. LBVS!

The atmosphere was very quiet as our reservations were booked as soon as they opened. So since it was mostly empty we still didn’t understand not being seated less than 5 mins before our party arrived.

Moving on: The bathroom stalls are so uncomfortable and tight and I’m not a fluffy girl. I wish my experience was better but it wasn’t.

Our bartender was the most kind and professional staff member we experienced.

This restaurant looks nice inside and out. The problem comes with everything else. They open at 5. We had reservations for 530 and we’re early but they were nearly empty and had no issues getting our table early. We ordered all at the same time, a sushi roll, entrees, and drinks. The drinks took about ten minutes and a second took about the same. The cook came out and began preparing to make the entrees and the sushi roll had not come out yet. It ended up coming out after the salad. The shrimp served at the beginning was not seasoned. It did have egg sauce, which I found odd in texture for what it was being used for but also under seasoned. Imagine a hollandaise sauce with very little being brought to the table of flavor. Of the entrees, the sirloin was good. I also tasted a coworkers ribeye and could barely tell a difference. The scallops were way way over cooked. This was brought up to the waiter and the cook and there was no resolution. I kept wanting to stop the cook and day that’s enough but I didn’t. If you want Japanese Hibachi, I guess Ron of Japan was not the best plan.

The only reason why they received a 4 star was because my husband and I along with 5 other people which was at our table, was there for three hours (no lie)! First of all the service was excellent and the food was delicious. The only issue was I guess they were short staffed for cooks. However the waitress ensured our table wasn’t neglected by checking on us all us all every chance he got.

Very cozy atmosphere, and the food was great. Went here with my family, and we had a great time. The light setting was perfect and the guests were very nice. They cook the food right in front of you. I ordered the Crown Combinations. Everyone spoke to everyone. I loved it. I recommend that you go to this place. If you can’t find parking, there’s a parking garage directly next door to the restaurant and they have valet.

The food was strange.. I have been to many hibachi restaurants and this was by far the worst experience. The only thing that was good was the steak. The soup was like that cheap boxed chicken noodle you buy when you’re are sick. The yolk sauce was unpleasant and ruined the shrimp. The beef fried rice was ground beef with rice, very strange. I am disappointed that this cost my wife and I $200. I would recommend that the “chefs” use some seasoning and work on their showmanship.

Please find somewhere else for a meal. Somehow all the food is missing any flavor, even the ice cream. Soup tasted like chlorine. Unless you come in a group of 6-8 with people you know, ask not to be seated at a booth or you will be unable to move for your entire meal.

An exciting build up of a “weekend in Chicago” with a reservation at the famous Ron’s left me incredibly disappointed.
As the night went on I took quick notes to remind myself specifically why everything fell short.
We arrived 30 minutes before our reservation to have a quick drink; ordered the Lychee Martini and it was incredibly sour and tasted BAD. I had to return it back to the bar (one single bartender for the entire restaurant AND waiting/standing room)

Once seated in the middle section (chairs, not booth) – the table was awkwardly “too low” so it was a bit uncomfortable.. something about the ergonomics were just “off”?

The soup- Reminiscent of chicken noodle soup.. it was very bland.

Unfortunately no noodles on menu to order with the hibachi dinner, a staple for me (personally)

The salad- heavy mayo based, no ginger, a few bites tasted almost 100% mayo. Thick and oddly sour?

Not a criticism for the restaurant but as a “heads up” The regular soy sauce was SO SALTY. We had to ask for the reduced sodium.

Fried rice (up charge) was bland and had no spice/taste. It is a hamburger fried rice and just didn’t taste right, including the “harder” than normal regular rice. It was reminiscent of wild grain rice?

The vegetables were cooked well, but again, were bland.

I decided on the steak and scallops. Both were actually cooked very well, although for the price point the amount of steak and the 2 scallops was a bit underwhelming.

The waitress did a really good job at keeping up with her tables and our service, with the only caveat was delay in drink reordering (again, one bartender for the entire restaurant and bar/waiting area) – on a Saturday night.

Overall, was meh. I don’t like posting negative reviews but this one had to be discussed.

Disappointed in the hibachi here. There wasn’t a show that the chef put on other than lighting a big fire and putting the rice in a heart shape. It was very over priced for the quality of food. We paid $400+ for 4 people which was crazy to us.
