We have heard that Owens is amazing. We were originally headed to the downtown location but the wait was long so we ended up going to the LWR location. Such a cool place to hang out in back for drinks and apps and dinner was fantastic. Our server Marissa was great, not rushed, food is made fresh and we can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu since there was so much we wanted to try. I highly recommend it here.

Amazing atmosphere!!! Cozy and not franchise like. Super friendly staff. Love the outdoor area. The Lobster roll was Amazing! Better than the Sarasota Yacht club!! The wine menu is great and super cute how it’s categorized. Looking forward to coming back. Definitely jealous LWR gets this place but SRQ has the original so there! Haha!

Visiting the area and our realtor recommended this great local hang out with a fun patio and great food! Fish dip! Amazing! Deviled eggs were fabulous. Blackened tacos — delish. Our server Lauren was so personable and accommodating for dietary needs. Pleasant personality filling us in on the history of the restaurant and the sister location. And tasty margarita.

Owens Fish Camp in Lakewood Ranch is one of those places that grabs you the second you walk in. My wife and I ate here, and the whole experience felt like stepping into a story—Florida charm, southern grit, and coastal beauty all woven together.

The atmosphere is spot-on. Rustic wood. Twinkling lights. A little bit of old-Florida whimsy with modern polish. It’s the kind of place where you instantly relax because the design does all the talking—warm, creative, and buzzing with energy without ever feeling loud or chaotic.

And the food? Outstanding.

The fresh catch of the day is the star. You can taste the difference. My dish came out perfectly cooked—flaky, flavorful, and bright—and you could tell it didn’t spend long out of the water before it hit the kitchen. My wife’s plate was just as impressive. Everything was seasoned right, balanced, and beautifully presented. This is fresh seafood the way it’s meant to be enjoyed.

The service was friendly, fast, and attentive, rounding out a night that really delivered.

If you’re anywhere near Lakewood Ranch and want a place with a memorable vibe, creative atmosphere, and truly fresh fish done right—Owens Fish Camp is it. Highly recommended.

Had a great brunch here. Didn’t have a chance to go to the downtown location earlier but got to stop here for lunch on the way out of town. Server was super friendly and enthusiastic, she made the meal a lot of fun. Oysters were on point, fish was amazing along with steak and frits. Definitely over ordered but got to try lots of things. Def not a cheap meal but delicious.

They accommodated our large party well, and the outdoor “backyard” area is a great spot to hang out while you wait.
Loved the oysters (both at backyard bar and Rockefeller on the menu), and the Fish and Chips were excellent—huge portion of fish with tasty Old Bay fries. The Crispy Captain’s Platter was solid too, and service was great.

Our whole party agreed however, the the only downside was that dishes were on the overly salty side, but overall a great experience and we’d definitely return.

Wait time was considerably less than reported at the host station. We sat at the bar and got a table before we finished our drinks.

Our waiter was very knowledgeable and gave me a detailed explanation of the differences between Scamp and Tilefish. I went with the Scamp at his suggestion and it was 100% on point. The only issue with the food was that the breading on the calamari just fell off when dipping. It was still delicious!

The space is fun, inviting, and we sat by the kitchen so we had fun watching the hard work that goes into these great dishes.

I love the Burns Ct location, but the Lakewood Ranch site is equally worth the trip.

I have been to other “fish camp” style restaurants. This one is the best.

You could tell right away as we showed up at opening…as did many many others, that this was a great place to eat. Was seated quickly, drink order taken quickly and away we went.

Our server Lexi provided all the current specials, including the available market fish for the day.

We started off with a set of appetizers from the happy hour menu that included 1/2 dozen oysters, garlic bread, fish spread and deviled eggs. Everything was great and we would order any again.

We added some cocktails and placed our dinner order with the pork chop, jambalaya, and shrimp and grits. All were excellent and well portioned. We finished with peach cobbler.

Great place and one we will keep on our list of places to revisit.
