Great tasting food.. very friendly servers. They never let my drink run out. 1 big dining room with tables and chairs so its a little loud but not unbearable. Kid friendly. The menu was around 25 items to pick from, things like snow crab legs were market price. I had a crab leg boiled shrimp combo. Very good taste not to heavy on the seasoning. I think the total for the combo was 38 dollars. Definitely recommend if you’ve never been. Parking lot is slam full. Very local in West Jones community off of 84 west.

Kind of classic fish camp, fish slaw and hush puppies! The fried pickles were the best I have ever had; I think the thin cut and minimal batter made them GREAT.
Server Ashley H. was Superduty, kept us covered in tea and water whole time, she was the most patient as we were yakking so much she had to come back three times before we stopped talking and looked at the menu to order
We will be back. 😉

No one will leave here thinking they were overfed or undercharged. I ordered a large boiled shrimp but it was anything but large. I also had whole catfish which was overcooked. Not only are the prices a little on the high side for what you get, they try to nickel and dime you for any changes. For example, most entrees come with fries but they want to gouge you for $2.99 to swap for a baked potato. Speaking of fries, my portion of fries was meager. Cole slaw was good. Hush puppies were greasy. Service and atmosphere were fine but overall I just didn’t feel the dining experience was a good value.

The Tackle Box is in a more rural area of Laurel, MS and has a plain look on the outside but some interesting things inside with an ambiance that almost reminds me of a German Bier Hall except they don’t sell beer or bier here. This is mainly a seafood restaurant that also serves steaks, country fried steak and fried chicken. They have boiled shrimp and fried seafood with all-you-can-eat catfish which seems to be the star of the show here. They have fried options including oysters, shrimp, stuffed crab and chicken. They also have a baked redfish with crawfish sauce and boiled potatoes that I ate, which for the price, it was unfortunately really small and for around the same price in many other spots I’ve had a much larger serving along with a lot more crawfish in the sauce.

For the area it seems very popular and there are lots of other catfish places around but this one seems to have a bit more variety. You also get coleslaw and hushpuppies with your meal (which is the same practice for many of the other spots around this area). Like the majority of places in this region their coleslaw is sadly NOT to my taste as it is far too sweet and is the mayo style while I’m on team vinegar and mustard based coleslaw with no mayo and zero added sugar. I literally would rather have plain sauerkraut or kimchi than this kind of coleslaw. Most people around these parts will by quite happy with the food here but a lot of it just isn’t to my taste. The redfish had potential but I can get a way bigger portion size with a lot more food on the plate in New Orleans and all along the Gulf Coast for around the same price or cheaper than here. I sampled a boiled shrimp and like most of the boiled seafood in this area I found it way too bland to my taste and I would rather just boil my own. The service here was really great and they stayed on top of keeping drinks refilled. Overall most people from the area will probably like this joint but if you’re used to seafood with a Creole or Cajun flair like I am then you will likely find it pretty bland here.

I have a problem with being charged for 18%tip when all the waitress do is bring you’re drinks gets your order brings order to you and huddle over in corner with the other waitress it’s a shame you can’t go out as a family of 6 and over get charged a hight dollar tip we should tip Accordingly to servers on our own do away with this charging tip

The cold slaw is some of the best I have had in while. We got whole fish they cooked crisp which I really like. I would however like a finer cornmeal batter, but each to his own. The French fries and his puppies were cold. The wait staff was excellent and register lady was good.

Stopped in for our first visit tonight. Very disappointed. We both had the seafood “platter” which came out in two small baskets. The oysters, and we were warned by the server, come prefrozen. They were awful. No bigger than large peanut in the shell. I can’t even describe the taste really. The fries were undercooked. The shrimp were so spicy your tongue and lips caught aflame. Good taste but too hot (they must’ve soaked too long idk); the stuffed crab had zero flavor and I can only assume they come prefrozen too bc they were awful. We paid $25.99 each. Drove 40mins one way to try them out. Thank goodness the coleslaw and crackers were good. The fish and hush puppies were “ok” but have had better. Very disappointed and won’t ever go back. $61 down the drain for sure.

Owner lashed out after my FB review and then blocked me. I had a right to leave a review and she has the right to comment back and block. At the end of the day, it’s a no go for me.

Was passing through and saw the sign on Hwy 84. My wife and I decided to give it a try. Worse seafood restaurant ever. Pre-breaded oysters and catfish… yuk! Not cooked as requested. Waitresses too busy checking cell phones and talking to take care of customers. Other than Cole slaw, horrible. Save your money… DO NOT waste it here.

A hidden GEM for the jone county locals. Amazing service from our server Abby, the food was exceptional. Red fish with crawfish sauce my wife and I were fighting forks! We also had the amazing crab and shrimp . My father inlaw had the whole catfish and he was amazed. My mother inlaw had the beef in gravy due to her allergic reaction to shell fish …!!!! NOT only do they provide great food they provide SAFE FOOD ! NOTHING THAT A PERSON WITH ALLERGIES TO SHELL FISH WILL TOUCH THE OIL OR THE TABLE, TOTALLY COOK SEPARATELY. JUST ASK THE OWNER . . I almost don’t want to post this because of the SHOW . But I also want to support our local business.
