I visited for the first time a few days ago. From the outside, it looked closed, but I was told to enter through the next door. I arrived about 40 minutes before closing, and there were several people at the table next to mine.

The chairs were stacked, which felt untidy and uncomfortable for someone arriving to eat. The music was very loud, and the employees were talking among themselves as if they were alone. The food arrived fine, although some pieces of sushi fell apart before I could pick them up, and I had to order it together with dessert to prevent the kitchen from closing too soon.

The worst part was that while I was eating, they started mopping the floors, and the strong smell of cleaner filled my nose, making it impossible to enjoy the meal. The server was fine, but overall, the experience left much to be desired.

I’m doubtful about returning…

Great sushi spot. The food was delicious. We were first served dirty plates to eat off of, but the waiter replaced them quickly. The music was a bit loud and obnoxious, it felt like we were eating in a club. But the sushi was great quality and they had tons of options.

Upscale feel with clean but cold ambiance. Seated promptly by a friendly Hostess. We really enjoyed the side chick roll. We also had 2 others that were tasty but didn’t really compare to the side, chickl. The servers were gathered talking a little loudly in the station while we were trying to enjoy our dinner. Not a deal breaker but sure doesn’t scream upscale. Would go back just for that roll though.

When I moved to the area this place was highly recommended, and I see and I taste why they deserve that praise. I am a fan of salmon, mackerel, and eel. I immediately asked for their recommendations. I accepted them both and left pleased; salmon with chili garlic oil, and a side of fresh water eel over rice (2pc). I opted for a little Tokyo drink to sip along the way.

Food was well presented and tastes great.
Ordered 4 roll, edamame and tempura for appetizers.
When I got here I was greeted with half a smile ( not a genuine welcome) and got a table for three which was located closest to the door. Every time the door was opened – was hit with blast of cold breeze – it’s cold outside.

Order taker very generic – all the rolls had playful names.
Was not offered new plates after appetizers, had to ask. New plates were just placed on the side of the table – still did not take the used plates.

Ordered dessert ( see pictures) looked awesome. The fried banana was not so good. Too much whip cream tasted way different than all others – have eaten this all over greater Sacramento area.

Total spent with tip $148+.

And I won’t mention the hot( warm) tea!

I hate people that leave bad review without cause. I wish them success – but I will not go there again. Giving 4 stars instead of 1.

Absolutely terrible experience. This place has gone completely downhill. If you, like me, used to love the Scallop Maniac- do yourself a favor and DON’T order it now. It was honestly disgusting. The scallop (if you can even call it that) was slimy, with an overpowering, fishy smell and taste that was hard to stomach. None of the four rolls we ordered were any better — not one was enjoyable. To make matters worse, the tiny amount of wasabi they gave us for four rolls was laughable. Thankfully, there are plenty of other excellent sushi spots in the area. Sadly, Sky is no longer one of them.

Got a little confused on which door was in, but were not here to talk about that. It was crowded when we arrived with the majority of tables filled. The menu was huge which included gluten free options and low carb. Heaven help them, they couldn’t get creative with non-meat items. The only creative non-meat roll they had was with carrot shreds and balsamic vinegar. Perhaps… Revamp your menu..just a tad and make it easier to read. People in their early 20s had to squint our eyes because print was so small or smudged off. Server was great and our glasses weren’t empty but for a few moments. Would i go back, yes if they upped there veggie options. I don’t want just a cucumber avocado roll, just saying.

Service was slow and disjointed (ex: ginger and wasabi in one container for 6 people after rolls and entrees already at the table). Gal was nice but perhaps they had less staff because it was a Monday. She was responsive when asked questions. They have a corkage fee for wine. They do have a limited gluten free menu including very simple rolls (ex: tekka maki, sake maki), and gluten free soy sauce. They also have “low carb” no rice rolls that were pretty awesome looking. I thought my simple rolls looked really sloppy (different sizes, some major rice, some nice and plump with fish) but tasted good. The artisan rolls looked great. I think everyone enjoyed dinner but probably would try another place instead of coming back here. I think the sushi place near Target is probably more affordable and good quality. It’s okay. 3 stars.

We’ve been coming to Sky Sushi in El Dorado Hills for years now. We love sitting at the bar and having Chef Nick and Chef Toby cater us. We just tell them what we like and we get special items off the menu. A must try!
